Having a pretty good idea of the agenda of the New World Order/Illuminati, I feel that the likelihood of this is rather high. If, or should I say when, there is another terrorist attack, or when Bush decides to attack Iran, a draft may be the only option available for securing an adequate military force. This time it sounds like it will be both men and women 18-??. I have read as old as 42 possibly.

not likely, i think they will continue to send the same men over and over again, we may be getting our numbers for recruiting, but i garantee the numbers for re-enlistment is down. i think we have plenty of military we need to just start cross training them to help out the different branches that are in need. for example we have an entire navy and only branch of the navy going over to Iraq and afghanistan are the navy corpman, why not cross train all navy to be corpman instead of sitting on a ship when we could use them on the ground.

While I do agree with most of the other answers, I will say that if Bush wants to stay in office he won't make another attempt at the draft. However the house may push for it to end the war.

Not likely at all.

I don't have any evidence, but if a draft were needed to increase the level of military readiness, we would have had a draft already.

However - if we suddenly were to go to war with North Korea and Iran - that would be a different story.

I'd don't think it is very likely. At the present level of troop involvement, the US seems to be holding its own. AND I think there are too many voters who remember Vietnam and will push to get US out of Iraq. If we get a democrat president I think it is very likely we will pull our troops out of Iraq and possibly even Afghanistan relatively quickly after the fall election. If we get a republican president (and congress), then its up in the air when we get out...

The draft is a last resort , and has always been so . I think if they need more guys to go and kill people they should look to the prisons. Come on, it is full of guys with experience, send them .

dasher
Not likely at all. If you read the papers you'd see that all branches of the military have met and exceeded recruitment goals for the past 13 months.

As likely as Paris Hilton give up the root.

Slim to none.

Its probably more complicated ..this is not 1967 anymore...Will women be included in the draft now? And if not., why not...aren't there women in combat roles in the Middle East? Would Bushs' and Chenys' kids be in the ping pong bowl? (hold your breath) then we would have to adopt a "don't ask, don't tell" syndrome.( see Cheny) .Times have changed and as long as there are the very rich (aka Bush) you can hide in a non-combat role..And as long as ther are poor people (see Nafta) there will be lots of cannon fodder...GOD BLESS THE USA....and GOD HELP US ALL

I think if I were president i would have put the draft in place as soon as I saw Iraq was going to be a problem. By now I would have a trained military force large enough to secure Iraq . Someone had better do it soon.

0% unless the ragheads start trying to invade the USA on our soil.

Not bloody likely....who would stand for it in the last two years of his term when so many libs are against it and many conservatives aren't too thrilled, either. Evidence....common sense

For the 999th time..
There is no draft, nobody is considering a draft, and the military does not want or need one!!!!

It's shocks me how often this question comes up. The Cold War is over. We don't need millions of draftees to fill the ranks. All services are meeting their recruiting retenion goals as of last month. And in the modern military, the last thing we need is a bunch of nose ring wearing, couch potatoes, who smoke dope, do exstacy and can't run a block. Most of the posters on Yahoo answers can't even spell, let alone follow simple instructions. So tell you friends they have nothing to worry about. Nobody is comming for them......

Not very likely. There have only been a few months where the enlistment quotas have not been met. And as long as we don't overstretch our commitments, there should be no call for a draft

None. Why would they? There's no need to, and everyone is trying to pull troops out of Iraq and Afghanistan, not send more over there. Plus, look into it, the only times during Bush's presidency that legislation has been introduced to reinstate the draft have been close to elections and the bills were ALWAYS introduced by Democrats, who then turn around and say "Vote for Democrats because Bush and the Republicans will send your kids to war, look there are bills for the draft going through Congress right now!"

No way. The army isn't hurting for people that badly. Plus Bush can't handle anymore bad PR.
