We need to get out of here for various reasons. My husband just past his three year mark, and he wants to transfer bases as soon as possible. How can we go about doing this, and how long does it usually take?

No, there are ways that I have heard of. I know you can cross train and thiings like that.

If he is Army tell him to contact his branch manager, His NCO knows who that is, and ask if anything is open or if he can have a compassionate reassignment and change duty stations. The Army is pretty good about things like that but he has to ask someone. |

I think it depends on the station. Some stations are either a 2 or 4 year billet. Unless he advances, usually he will wait until his time is up at the station to transfer. My husband is USCG and our last station was a 4 year billet. Since he advanced he was transfered. He should be able to talk with someone on base though. They would have a lot more information for you. |

People transfer when the service wants them to be somewhere else, not when the individual serviceman wants to go. |

Actually we are in this situation right now. Your husband has to be with his unit for at least 2 years. Doesn't matter how long your at the duty station just with the unit. Once he has past that mark contact his branch manager you can find the number online and they will help you move. |
