How long will his pcsing take?

My husband just called me and told me he found out he has to go to FT Campbell first before he gets to come home and move us. Hes in AIT right now graduates in two weeks.
How long will he be in ft campbell before he gets to come home and move us?
This is all so new to us and confusing.
He was suppose to come home first for home town recruiting but someone filed the papers wrong there and no one in his class got it.

While hes at pcsing in ft campbell will he be able to set up the movers for us? And the DLA?

he may not be allowed to take ANY time off. it really depends on what his new command needs. prepare yourself to have to do this all alone.

it is not always an option to take leave immediately after arriving at a duty station to help the family move.

He should be able to request leave after AIT to go home and move his family.

If he goes to Campbell first, he'll have to inprocess and then his unit will give him leave. It could take a week to a month.

He will be able to set up movers for you and put your names on the waiting list on post if you want to live on post.

You will receive DLA, per diem and mileage. Normally you can request a portion of those up front, but I'm not sure you can with your first PCS.

On a personal note, we are at Campbell, it is a very nice place. I really like it here. We are getting ready to leave in the next month or so, but you need any help, feel free to contact me. A lot of people are leaving (PCS, ETS) so you might have a chance of getting on post housing... We live on post and it is very nice. Oh, and eat at G's Pancake House, it's cheap and yummy breakfast food.

He should have paper orders for every movement he has to make, they should tell you his expected arrival at his PCS. I am guessing that you already have a home at the new PCS? If not, your husband should be able to get non-leave househunting leave (doesn't get charged), usually ten days to arrive at his next duty station and find a house. The household goods issue he should be able to coordinate prior to the PCS, and you should be able to move prior to his actual PCS...this is about five years ago for me, but tell your husband to sit down with the sgt at personnel and get the scoop.
