If you count all Active, Guard, and Reserve of all components, then roughly 2.7 million.
If you are talking only active duty, then about 1.45 million (see below):
Army - 549,153
Navy - 331,768
Marine Corps - 201,031
Air Force - 329,980
Coast Guard - 42,583
Total Armed Services - 1,454,515 |

EDIT- actually, blusafe, we are a military organization. we always have been. i'm really not sure why people continue to think the coast guard isn't military.

I stand corrected:
US Code Title 14 governs USCG. "The Coast Guard as established January 28, 1915, shall be a military service and a branch of the armed forces of the United States at all times."
