when I went into basic they made us call home on the first day. I can't remember the two weeks as far as phone priviliges though i know you were on lockdown pretty much just to let you know who is boss and its that way on the last two weeks of basic and the first two weeks of ait. usually in the evenings you have time to polish you boots and straiten out your locker CALL HOME and stuff. I think its everyday the entire time your there. but it has been like 12 years since I've been to basic. |

You won't be able to use your own phone until maybe the last week. Other phone calls, it depends. Don't bet on more than once a week. |

Per regulation, you are authorized three phone calls at basic training: one per cycle (about three weeks). Other than that, it's pretty much up to your 1SG. |

Relaxin jackson baby, you can write them everyday if you'd like once out of the initial battalion you go into (intake) they can write you everyday. As for phone calls, at first is a no go except like once a week at the end of the week after a couple weeks you get to call a couple times, and then after that you wind up getting your graduation from basic which usually you go home on leave before AIT unless they specify you don't (yes that was happening to me basic straight to ait see my parents and fiance' for like 5 minutes) with AIT it's a little more about you learning your stuff but they are stricter on your tests and passing pt exams then once you grad from that you're good to go... my husband is currently serving at ft stewart ga we both wen't to ft jackson for our basic. |

While at Ft Sill, Ok we were allowed to use a pay phone once a week. That was the only voice contact we had. You can write as many letters as you want. That was in 2002 so things may be a little different but I doubt they allow personal phones. |

You can't take your own phone, all personal items are sent back to your family. You won't get to use another phone all that often if at all. You may get to call them when you get there and maybe 1 or 2 times during. You get to write letters and that's about it. |

You wont be able to call your family unless if its for emergency purposes only. However, you can write them a letter everyday if you choose to.
Tough it out. |
