How should I tell/convince my parents for me to join the army?

I'm only 15, but i've always wanted to be in the military, especially the army. Since i'm a freshman in high school, I know that I could just join on my own after high school but I want to gain the support of my parents. They know that i'm interested in the military, but I don't think joining it. Also, pretty much nobody in my family has been in the military. I'm afraid of what they are going to say and think, so I would just like some tips on convincing my parents that the military is the right choice for me, especially regarding the benefits, college, and getting a job after.

I myself did not have this problem because my parents said go ahead lol i plan on signing up in the next 2 or 3 weeks

It is not a bad idea to consider. Be honest and just bring it up over dinner or something. But you need to be aware that the army is not just about benefits, college and a job. You must be fully aware that there is a chance you could be deployed and there is a chance you could be seriously injured or killed.

You may also be involved in actions that may go against your conscious, for example you may need to engage in military action with country for reasons you may not agree with. You should be fully aware of those issues.

Just keep bringing up the subject. Show how interested you are. If your parents see how dedicated you are to the idea, they will eventually support your decision. Also, start talking to a recruiter, maybe not now but closer to your 17th birthday, and get the recruiter to talk to your parents. Your recruiter will tell them everything they need to know and they are really good at convincing parents to be supportive of the military. Ha ha, I mean my recruiter and I got my Mom to finally sign me for the Marines. You know how hard it is to convince the mother of a 17 yr old female to let her join the Marines??? Ha Ha

i considered joining the military when i found out how much it will benefit me, because i want to become a CHP officer, so i told my mom i wanted to do military police and then go to college full time and get my degree in criminal justice, my mom wasn't happy at first because she thinks the army is just straight war and that im going to get my leg blown off, but after i explain how the army will help me she was more open to it, so find out everything and anything about the army and tell you parent that the army is going to help you finish college and that you will learn alot of self discipline and this is something you are really interested in joining,

My parents were the same way. My mom even threatened to disown me when I told her I wanted to go airborne. I got a recruiter to talk to her and showed her all the benefits of enlisting. The recruiter did wonders, but mom was still a little steamed. You just need to give your parents time too. Once they take the time to stop thinking about their little kid dying, they will realize it is your life and that the Army is a great option. Trust me. After I joined, youd've thought it was her idea for me to enlist in the first place. Good Luck!
