why not just do what the libs like to do, give them money and tell them how sorry we are ?

bombing their land bases is a part of the solution. sinking their boats is another solution.

Arming cargo ships, and training the crew to violently defend against boarders is the most logical way.

Perhaps take page from British history - Q ships. They only looked like merchant ships, they were in fact very well armed fighting vessels. That would be a surprise for the pirates.
