How to approach an army recruiter?

I am thinking about going to see an army recruiter today. Im just not sure how to approach it. Should I go in there saying I would like to enlist? Or, should I go in there acting like I'm just thinking about it so they don't try to take advantage of me?
I have already found a job I'm interested in as well.
Any answers will help thank you.

recruiting offices are incredibly comfortable. i've always found recruiters to be easygoing and fun people. just go in, let them know "hey i want some info on the army, what can ya tell me?" and talk to them about the job you are interested in. they have MOS videos and you can watch a video on that job. just be chill with them, they will be back.

Be upfront and tell them what interest you have. Recruiters want to match you to a job that you want. Also, shop around. Talk to recruiters from every branch that has what your interested in. You might be surprised at what you find. When I was a recruiter (Army) I would routinely send kids over to talk to the Navy or Air Force recruiter in I knew the Navy or Air Force had a MOS/AFSC that better matched their interest. Those recruiters would do the same thing for me sometimes. I had an interest in signing happy service members not just numbers.

For example you might be interested in a field that is found in every branch (in this case they are usually all trained together at the same school - cooks for example) but one branch might be short in that MOS and are offering better incentives.

Say you're interested. Their job is working with people so I'm sure you'll feel comfortable talking with them. Atleast that's how I felt with recruiters.

Be aggressive! Let them know up front that you have a job in mind and would like information about that job or related jobs. Flood them with information that you know to be true so they will know that you're not just some kid that they can take for a joy ride. Never sign anything until you have read over it and don't give them any personnel information or they will never stop calling you. The Army is doing very well with recruiting at the moment due to the bad economy so you shouldn't have to many issues with them. Just be honest and firm.

Just be casual. Just talk to him/her about enlisting and what the Army offers. Take that info home, think about it, and in a couple days get back in touch with the recruiter and start talking about MOS's and steps to enlist. It will be a piece of cake. If you want, you can just email your local recruiter and ask them questions before you go in and see them.

just make sure that you are controlling your future and he is not telling you what he wants you to do. a good recruiter will listen to your needs and interests and do everything he can to make sure you get what you want. at the same time you have to understand he can only offer you so much, so you do have to be some what flexible. but make sure everything is you YOUR terms. good luck and just relax, most recruiters are very approachable

Go in, smile, shake the guy's hand and say, "I'm interested in (whatever) job in the Army. Tell me about it."

Let him do all the talking and listen to him. Don't sign anything right away, just go listen. You can leave at any time if you want and you don't owe him anything.

Good luck!
