how could i set my self apart from the rest. and how hard is it to get in.
(preferably from some one who has been to a service academy)

It is a lot of work to get accepted to any of the Service Academies. Have the highest possible GPA with plenty of AP classes, have the highest possible SAT/ACT scores, have lots of leadership positions in clubs or student council or JROTC or as a captain of sports teams, be extremely physically fit to max the Candidate Fitness Assessment, gain a nomination from your congressman, basically be very good at everything. Some applicants will have most of these things but will be weak in an area or two, being better than them in all areas is really the only way to set yourself apart.
Of course you can get accepted without all these qualifiers being maxed out, but if you really want to guarantee yourself the best chance then you need to get them as high as possible. |
