How to get more money in Army Reserve Annual Training?

I'm an e4 with 5 yrs of service. Can I get extra money now that I have a kid? I brought it up to one of my sgts and they said I can get extra income only if I'm married. What's the deal?

Also what else can I do to get extra money? I'll be giong for 17 days so how much would that be?

I believe he doesn't rate BAH. Annual Training is just for the reserve component and unless he goes to AT for more then 30 days, he doesn't rate it. He is correct about signing your child up for DEERS. It will increase you pay to an E-4 with dependents. The only other thing you can do to get extra money is pick up E-5 prior to your AT and that's not likely to happen.

You will need to get the child enrolled in DEERS so he/she is legally a dependent in the Military's eyes. Then you will get paid the "with dependent" rate for BAH which will be a little more.

Take the child's birth certificate and social security card to your UA and get him/her enrolled in DEERS. This should have been done as soon as it was born.

I use ot get more money by coming in to help my clerk who is full time reserves on week days see if you can strike a deal with your clerk or supply SGT, of course if you have a job, this would not work. I was a stay-at-hoem mom, and this wa show I made some extr $$$.
