Breath control has a lot to do with it. Make certain you take a deep breath and let out half of it before taking your final site.
If you're shooting the M16/M4, remember, the kick doesn't hurt. Anticipate the shot and kick, don't fear it.
If you can, get hold of another rifle and practice at a gun ranger - preferably with a good coach.
Being a marksman is 90% mental. It's like forming in your mind that the rifle is an extension of you, that it is a part of you.
Again, a good shooting coach can help you develop this. |

while aiming breath slowly when your ready to fire take a half breath and hold it. squeeze the trigger slowly don't just pull it. and lots of practice. also if you are going into the military you Sargent will probably teach you to shoot with both eyes open (so you more aware of your surroundings). so you might want to practice that also. |

When you shoot it's always good to hold your breath. If your using a pistol make sure you use 2 hands to keep it as steady as possible, stay calm when you fire, heart rate can affect your accuracy. When using a rifle or such, make sure the butt of the gun is pressed into your shoulder to fight the recoil. It takes a long time to develope that perfect shot you want, just keep training, practice makes perfect Hope that helps a bit! |

Breathing is everything...if u are breathing rapidly your rifle will rise and fall. It takes practice to be a marksmen so just practice. As far as hands shaking their should be a number of positions that they let you use. Go talk to some military cops...They help out a lot...Good Luck |

There could be several reasons that your hands shake while holding a handgun. Flinching as you anticipate recoil is a very common reason. Try practicing with a .22 caliber handgun and concentrate on breathing, trigger pull, and natural point of aim. If you are issued an M9 then you can purchase one of several .22 conversion kits and this would make practice much more affective as you would be using the same frame to practice with, as .22 is cheap, shoot lots and often.
Exercise your hand grip with any one of those squeeze type devices you find at the fitness store. This will help, along with arm exercises, to strengthen arm and hand muscles.
One thing I noticed for myself was suger level. If you are Hyper-glycimic or have any other diatary issues involving suger levels, this could cause the shakes.
Most important thing to remember is to practice good markmenship skills. If needed seek training from an expert and vidio tape yourself shooting to see if you are flinching, or to diagnose any other issues. |

When you are shooting a rifle try to control your breathing, listen to yourself breath in and out, in and out, while you are doing this try to get a good aim at your target, when you think you are ready to shoot don't shoot! Instead hold your breath and then shoot the target. If you follow this technique then you will be well on your way to becoming a good marksman. I cannot really tell you how long it will take because this requires a lot of training and most of the time talent.
I hope that you one day become a great marksman. |

Yeah the 4 Basics of Marksmanship
1. Breathing
2. Aiming
3. Steady Position
4. Trigger Squeeze
The most important is the trigger squeeze but you have to get a good steady position, elbows directly underneath you, nose on the charging handle, cheek on the stock. Watch your breathing, shoot after you have released your breath.

Depends whether you are talking about a 9mm or a rifle. Rifles you pull tight into your shoulder and rest in your non-firing hand, don't hold the hand guards with your non firing hand, just rest it there. Squeeze with the fat portion of your finger tip, not the very tip, so that when it fires you are surprised.
Pistols are harder. Use your non firing hand to rest the pistol by forming a cup with the palm of your hand. Square your shoulders, spread your feet shoulder width apart. Breathe between shots, many people have their hands shake because they are so uptight they forget to breathe.
BTW, guns are on battleships. Or on your body if you've seen Full Metal Jacket. |

I have heard all kinds of breathing advice. And yeah, breathing is a large part of it. But you probably need to experiment about which part of the breath cycle works best for you. For me, a full calming exhale and then a gentle squeeze before the next breath works best if the gun *feels* light. If the gun feels heavy, then just a partial exhale & hold with the arms/elbows in works better for me—I would exercise more for arm strength that if it were important to me. My son has better aim with a big breath and hold – go figure! He has a very calm personality though, so he does not seem to need my 'zen' breath! LOL |

Whenever you're shooting try and not use your muscles when holding your weapon up. Use whatever you can on your IBA to rest your elbows or try and improvise something. When shooting from the prone it's easy to get relaxed. Muscle fatigue will make you shake so try not to use them. It might sound stupid but once you figure it out its simple. |

Unfortunately, some of us are just screwed in life. Like me. Some people have bodies that just won't hold steady enough to have a good aim all the time.
The best thing you might try is to be very calm when aiming. I do this to get a decent aim. Relax, breathe slow.
Or just get a place to rest your arm while aiming to steady your aim. |
