Any cadets in uniform must be present. The two(I think, the number may be different) highest ranking cadets present step up to the pole and commence the lowering, mean while, the remaining cadets form 2 ranks and stand at attention. Once the flag starts being lowered, the cadets salute. Once it is down, it is folded traditional military style and the highest ranking cadet tells everybody to fall out. Then they commence about their day. |

Do you mean from a flag pole? If so then, there must be at least 5 people (commander plus 4) in a formation like this

(the X in the middle should be directly between the four others.
The highest ranking person would be in the middle and commanding. Cadets are to march out to the flag pole, and then fall out. All of the cadets but 1 (usually the commander) will face the flag pole and stand at attention. The one other person will commence taking down the flag in a slow ceremonial manner. When this cadet begins to lower the flag he/she is to call present arms at which time all of the other cadets will go to present arms (if in uniform, if in civi's than they will put their hand on their chests like done during The Pledge of Allegiance.) Once the flag gets low enough to grab the nearest person will fall out and grab the flag and then all the others will follow and fold the flag in the proper triangular manner (which you should already know.) Once the flag is folded the detail falls back in and they march back to where ever the flag goes. |
