No, you're not too old. But just keep in mind that you may very well have people..."kids"...almost 10 years younger than you giving you orders. If you can handle that, then you'll be okay. That seems to be one of the biggest problems people who are older than the average booter have to cope with.
I say use that as an incentive to advance as quickly as possible.
Good luck! |

Talk to a Recruiter. They have the guidelines there and can tell you if you're past the maximum age. |

I don't think you are 'past' their age requirements. And I think you will be great in a job like that because of your maturity. |

Simply Put no, the max age is like 35 or so. |

no you are not to old, it is like 35. Plus you can look at the reserves they may still have the $20,000 bonus. That is just a bonus do it for the right reason. Thank you, and good luck |

lmao... listen junior... you're not too old. I just served in downtown Fallujah a few years back at age 42 (reservist) trying to keep up with those damn young Marines. Believe me... you can do it! |

I don't think that you are too old. Just keep in mind that there will be younger guys than you at boot camp, but after you complete boot camp you will be with a mix of people of all different ages. My husband is going in at 26 and we just had our first child (although we made the decission together before I was pregnant with our son.) Just make sure that the reason that you are joining is for the right reasons. Then go talk to a recruiter. Make sure that it is a recruiter that you feel you can trust and they aren't running you in circles. Good Luck. |

my husband enlisted at 28 with No prior service. 13 years later he is now an O3. ( he did have his BS before enlisting and was picked up for OCS at the 4 year mark)
he wasn't even the oldest person in his Recruit division! |

Your not to old at all.. My fiance, husband to be in Dec, is in Navy boot Camp as we speak, he is 18 years old, he said he is the youngest one there, everyone else is in there 20's and 30's. Its a great experience, but its very hard being away from the ones you love! If you decide to join the Navy I hope you have a great time and thank you!! |

28 is too old to join as a rating, although you can i wouldnt reccomend it as most joiners are around school leaving age, if you want to go in as a officer however its probly not too old, but you would be expected to have alot of skills both in leadership and in life |

28 isn't too old. The Army even upped its age cutoff to 43 because the Chimp in Chief's war is having a negative effect on enlistments. It may, however, be a rather tough adjustment to adapt to taking orders from everyone above you, many of them younger than you, at age 28 and living with a bunch of barely-18 recruits during basic training. If I had my life to do over, I would probably join the navy, because even in wartime, the chance of getting killed or wounded in combat is pretty low unless you're a S.E.A.L. or a naval aviator. |

Let me tell you now. Do not join the military. Do not join any branch. One of my best friends joined and I was going to join right behind him. He sent my a letter from him, when he was in the Navy. He said you have no freedom and they own your ***. Just get a real job. |
