I'm preping for Pararescue Indoc and was wondering where/why most of the guys washout?

I know the majority of the boys washout in the pool, but is there one certain point where they break or does it just depend on the individual person? I live in CA and surf every day, I'm confident in water and have done some big wave surfing and been in some rough situations. I'm not sure if most of the guys that join just buckle under the stress of being drowned or if they can't meet the physical requirements.. Any seasoned PJ's have any advice or info? AND I have of course done PLENTY of reading and research already and passed the PAST test no prob. I'd just like to be prepared before I go in there.
ALSO does anyone have any advice for the moments of "full harassment"?

whats up dude, i too am goin for pj. I leave on jun 16 for basic. Your definantly going to have an advantage over most going through because your surf. Ppl like me that live in Ohio, just have to train in the pool. Ocean training is much much better. you probably know just about as much as i do, for i only know what ive researched and from what my recruiter has told me. From my understanding, alot will not complete the PAST they give druing basic training for the PJ wannabes'...the 1000 meter swim. Since we will not be able to get into the pool during basic, most will get rusty with swimming because they haven't had time to get into the pool, therefore, when they give us the PAST during like "i think" the 5 or 6 week of basic alot will not pass and loose there PJ indoc slot. Other than that, i hear that the ruck sack marches take a big toll on alot of ppl as well, for there knees can't handle it. Other than that it would just be the water confidence drills. And i'd say alot washout during hell night when were awake for days at a time. Good luck to you brother, maybe i'll see you around. |

i tried out for pj's and combat controller and the intial test was 1,500 meter swim 2 mile run 10 pull ups 50 pushups and 50 situps. And its one right after the other maybe a 1 min break in between |
