the decision should be yours, not your friends. good friends support your decisions, not guide them.

what do you want to do in the Navy??? be sure to ask allot of good questions to the recruiter. Just be sure that the trade you chose is something you want to do.
Navy/Military life is not for everyone....but very few regret the time they spend in service. It's unique - its just like any other job - its thrilling - its tough and makes you tough. All depends on how YOU make it....

In service 17 yrs... somedays I don't like my job but I have never regreted the day I swore on the flag for duty honor and loyalty.
What it did for me, who I became... will never be lost.

I was a Gunner's Mate Second Class (E-5) in the Navy for 5 years and I would choose with these in mind. Can you deal with people telling you what to do all the time? Can you work with disregard to your own time? Do you get homesick or want a family? Do you want to not go to college? People should know that when they join the military it means your going to fight, not sit in a class like a university.

my son went into the navy after graduating high school, two of my neices are also in the military, one air force one army, the navy is the best choice for woman who is thinking of joining the military,, before my son made his decision, we both met with the navy, air force, army. marines, the navy ,should you decide to go into a specialized field ,will guarantee that position where the other ones will not, the navy offers better benefits,, they say all the military is the same, but it is not , the navy pays more to live off base ,,good for you !!!!!!!!!!!

If you want to do it then good for you!!! Most kids haven't a clue what they want to do after high school! And choosing to join the military, in any branch, is a wise choice. It will give you a great start on you future wheather you deside to make a lifetime career out of it our not. My husband is in the Army as a recruiter and if I could give you one bit of advice... as a female your best option is to join either the Air Force or the Navy... definatly not the Army and most definatly not the Marines! Ask around and talk to people that have or are serving and find out first hand what it's like for a woman in the military... but you'll do great if you're this amped about joining. Good luck to you!

i joined the Army when i was 17, don't regret it, and have been to asia and central america, great times and a strong bond with the men and women i served with, just remember one thing, not everything goes as planned so train hard and fight hard, remember your training it could save your life...

do what you want.. its YOUR life, not theirs... if it will make you happy GO for it. and you'll travel and see things you may never have gotten to see if you hadn't. i say go for it.

As a retired Navyman, the son of a Navyman, and the father of a Navywoman, my objectivity may be a little suspect. I will tell you what I told my daughter, the Navy is the most difficult branch to get into, and is also one of the most demanding. On the up side the training opportunities are superb, and with proper planning a hitch or two in the service could give you skills that will let you make a fine career in or out of the military. Remember this: if you don't know where you want to go, you have no way to get there, so sit down with a recruiter, take your ASVAB, and then go from there. Once your goals are set success becomes simply a matter of commitment plus perserverence. Hope that helped, and best of luck to you.

Go for it girl. My friends are not into me joining either. My husband is in the navy and getting out soon. I'm going to the coast guard. most friends don't like it cause you will be leaving them. You are not crazy do. It will better your life.

Well, if it's what you're really into then definitely go for it. Don't not go for it because of your friends, you most likely won't even see them after high school. Do what's right for you. Joining the Navy is interesting and respectable. Do it! But make sure you know what you're getting into. It's not just fun and games. Do your research.

Alright, you're in highschool. I hate to break this to you, but you won't know any of those girlfriends in four years. You don't have a family, so you only need to make decisions to please yourself, and I suggest you do that. Just get as much information as possible before actually joining the military.

Don't mind the Nay sayers.. My opinon is to try college first. Think about what you want to do in life and if you still want to join the Navy find a good Career path in the Navy so it will help you in the future. That way when you get out.. you wil lhave 4 years of experience in the navy and you'll definatly get hired

ima a high school student and when i graduate i want to enlist in the air force, im a female, my friends call me crazy to, they tend to say things like oh you want to die,and that the military is gay, but i been into it since i was young, no matter what my friends say my family supports it, and its what i want to do, because in the end i will be doing something i truly want to do and my friends will eventually except that...... your not crazy....do whats right for you.......GO FOR IT!!!!!! ;) p.s join rotc it gives you a higher rank....plus its fun....lol

there is nothing wrong with joining the military. when i got out over 30 years ago, they had women officers and non-coms. you get a great education while your in and they match college funds. you can travel the world and get your degree while in with all the benefits of getting paid, food and everything is taken care of. once you get a degree while in, you can go to officer training school and if you stay in, you can retire at under 30 with a very large pension. about 15 percent of the military is women now. you can actually sign up before you graduate. its called the deferment program. they set a date for after you graduate that you go to basic training and your active duty then. to many people go to college and get degree's only to work at a burger joint as there are more degree students than jobs. depending on the branch of service right now with the war in iraq and shortage of people. they are paying from 5 to 15 grand to sign up. everytime your hitch is up, you get a re-up bonus and depending on the field your in it has gone as high as 35 grand to re-enlist. best of luck to you.

If it's something you want to do then go for it.

I have been in your position (except I'm a guy) with my friends telling me not to, but ultimatly it's your own choice, what's right for you may not be right for them and vice versa.
