A few of the others gave you good info...on how long he will be in boot camp and what happens immediately after. Once SOI and MOS school are done with, he will be assigned to his permanent duty station and he will have liberty on weekends and most holidays off unless they are training for something specific and can't get out of it. You can go and visit him on weekends, but if you are far obviously you'd have to fly and that gets very expensive. If you guys are lucky enough that he gets stationed somewhere near you, you could drive out to see him on weekends that he has off, or he could go see you (my husband was stationed 5 hours away before we got married and we saw each other every weekend that he wasn't working or training).
It will be hard, there is no doubt about it, even if he is stationed nearby. Even if he's nearby there are deployments, MEUs, and field ops, and not to mention you will HAVE to get used to the brotherhood that he will share with his fellow Marines. They are close, literally like brothers, and there will be times you'll feel left out or like you've been replaced, but they can't replace you. You are his girlfriend, they are his brothers. They will share a bond that you might never understand, so the sooner you accept that, the better.
Don't listen to the dummies on here who tell you "it's over," "find a new bf," etc. Not all relationships make it very far past boot camp, but there are a lot that do make it. I have been a part of an online support group for Marine wives and girlfriends for about five years now, I am friends with the owner and I help her moderate the group. It's called Usmc Gals. If you're interested, go to www.usmcgals.com and click on the "join us" link up at the top. You will be sent an application to join. It is an awesome group with tons of girls who have great relationships with their Marines, some are new relationships, some old, some engaged, and some who are married. So you will see that not all relationships fail in the Marine Corps.
Good luck with everything. Bottom line is, support him and try to gain as much knowledge as you can about what you guys are in for. |

Unless he gets married to you there's nothing you can do. He'll go into the Marines for 4 years and they'll send him where they need him.
If you were married, as his wife, they'd send you with him to his duty station and provide a housing allowance, or a house on base, and medical coverage. |

Be proud of him. While he is in Basic you can only send letters and for the rest just read what other ppl posted ^ |

If you truly "love him to death", you will support his decision and be there without judgment when he needs you. It will be very hard, I'm not going to lie. Probably one of the hardest things you've ever encountered. But if you're ready for the ride, you'll put on your big girl panties and hang on tight. |

If he wants you to contact him, he'll have to give you his address. His parents will get it because they're immediate family. It'll probably be a while from the time he leaves until you hear from him because he's going to be a little busy. He may not know his address until he gets to boot camp.
His family will get all the official information. If you're on good terms with them, they should be able to help you |

He will go to boot camp for 13 weeks. At the end of that he will have ten days or so leave, and you can see him then. Then he will go to additional training either in Camp LeJeune or Camp Pendleton, then off to his MOS school. you can see him during all those phases. then he will go to his duty station and you can see him there.
While in boot camp contact will be limited, but you can write to him as often as you like. After that, you can write, email or call as he will access from time to time to all those forms of communication. |

Be proud of him. Love him. And don't let him down while he's gone.
You will be able to contact him no matter where he is. The services all have phones, emails and everything else. |

Look, if you REALLY love your guy then support him in most everything he does. He's doing what he feels is best for him and our country and I salute him for it. He will be in bot camp about 3 months. You won't be able to see him or talk to him in that 3 months but you can go to his graduation and watch him in full dress uniform, graduate from boot camp. It's a very proud day for the Marines and their loved ones. He will send you his address and you can write him almost every day but please do write him and support him and don't ever leave him for another. I had to help clean up the mess left from one private who got a "Dear John" letter while he was in boot camp. His brains had to be cleaned off the celling from where he shot himself in the head with his M-16A1.
Trust me, support him to the fullest and when he gets back from boot camp, he will make it up to you in more ways than you can imagine. You;'ll have to rest for a few days after his return. Remember, "Absense makes the heart grow fonder". |

Well he is going to be gone for at least 4 years. Boot camp, then techincal school then his first command. You will see him when he decides to come home maybe once a year unless you just happen to live somewhere near where he is stationed which probably won't be the case. Unless this guy is talking about getting married looks like it is time to move on with your life like he is. You are WAY too young to get married and not get divorced sooner than later. You need to find something for you to do like get into college and go do that. If you guys are meant to be together you guys will find each other again, but the long distance relationship rarely if ever works out. Also, he is enlisting in the Marines, he is going to have the time of his life being away from home living on his own for the first time. Him and his new buddies are going to do whatever they can do to have a great time. Most new recruits will break up eventually with their boyfriends and girlfriends back home. OR the do the stupid thing and get married at 17 and 18 years old. You will be ok even though you think you are going to die. Just go to college and find your own life aside from him. |

Email me. Check my profile for my email address. Once he leaves for recruit training he'll be gone 13 weeks. You'll want to go to his graduation and I can get you there with free airfare. He'll have 10 days leave after he graduates and then it's off to SOI/MCT. He'll then be stationed permanently somewhere and he's going to be gone most of the time for 4 years. |
