1. They issue you many things in BCT. They issue you all the field gear you need to graduate BCT but you have to turn it back in at the end (helmet, body armor, sleeping bag, wet weather gear, and the like). Youll get to keep every uniform item they issue you.

2. Youll get your flashy new barret when you graduate, and that little piece of wool will make you super proud!

3. They issue you your M16 at basic training and, as cool as it sounds, youll get sick of carrying that thing around with you EVERYWHERE you go.

4. You will deploy with your unit to where ever they will be deploying when its their time...if that makes sense.

What Do They Issue You During Basic Training?

clothing, equipment (helmet ruck or new back packs, small outdoor gear), weapon, bunk, manuals

Do You Keep everything they give you in Basic Training?

You can keep clothing like uniforms and boots. You should be able to keep manuals and small training aids like the little wallet cards. Helmets and other items are given back unless you are doing one station unit training. In that case, items are not collected until after you finish ait. You return your weapon when you leave as you will be assigned one at your duty station.

What Do You get when you graduate from Basic Training?

I believe that you get a certificate and go through a parade but you really do not get much of anything for graduating. It is a big deal but it is the first of many mile stones. However, if you graduate as an honor grad you may get special recognition.

When Do You get Your Weapons?

A couple of days into basic training. The first couple of days are generally spent in-processing.

How Do You Graduate from Rank to Rank?

From e-1 to e-4 it is generally based on time in service and time in grade. Unless you really screw something up, your rank is automatic. You have to go before a promotion board for e-5 and above. The promotion system for nco's is being changed and they are going to look at combat experience more than they did in regards to promotions. However, you get points for your pt test results. The better results, more points. You get points for military education and for civilian education. You get points for range qualifications. You used to get points from the board and from your commander but I heard that these points will be done away with.

Do They Send you straight to Iraq after Basic Training?
Not necessarily. You have to complete advanced individual training which trains you for the job that you are assigned to do at your duty station. After you complete ait, you go to your assigned unit. Whether you go to Afghanistan (Iraq is drawing down) or not depends on your unit's rotation schedule. If they are due to go soon, you go. If they just came back you have time. It all depends on where you are assigned and the current needs of the Army.

When you get with your unit and only when needed, for example during exercises and when at war.
Depends on the rank, from pvt1 to pvt 2 usually you get when you leave basic, pvt 2 to pvt 1st class you get that after 6 months and good conduct. pvt 1st class to specialist/ cpl 6 months of being a pvt 1st class and good conduct and 2 years in the service unless you entered the service as a pfc and pretty sure that they wave that.
No when you deploy has to do with your unit and their schedule of deployments
