That sounds just plain irresponsible to gain 20 pounds knowing your going to the military.

You need to get it together and lose some weight before you go. A month is enough time to get started. Yes, you can go.

If you're overweight on your ship day, then no, you can't go. Your recruiter can tell you what the max weight for your height is. From the few times I've been to MEPS, I'll warn you that your liaison won't be happy with you.

Of course, if you've been hitting the gym and lifting and you've bulked up (though I doubt you could put on 20 pounds of muscle in six months), then you can still be overweight, but under body fat standards. Basically what happens is that if you are over weight, you'll get measured to determine your BMI.

Start pushing yourself to lose weight now. If you're still over on your ship day, the best thing you can do for yourself is to cut weight, wrestler style. Boot camp will burn off any extra pounds....

You can definitely go, though I would recommend trying to lose the weight before you go to make it easier on yourself. They will whip you into shape when you get there, believe me. It will just be easier on yourself if you start a training regimen now before you go. Best of luck!
