I am a drop out with no GED and soon, nowhere to go, will the military take me?

no. You have to have a GED. Same reason my brother couldn't go into the Army. He was smart, just a high school dropout. He has since gotten his GED but back then the Army wouldn't take him.

the criterias change time to time for recruitment, so the only person who can answer that would be a recruiter.
I joined the Army as a dropout but took my GED test while I was in Basic Training. So it is possible!
I'm sure that recruitment is way down because of Iraq.
Find a recruitment center, or check out the career center of your local High School for info pamphlets on all the Armed Forces and their local recruiters.
Then sign your life away and enjoy the ride.
And dude who posted ahead of me is right, try the Air Force or Navy first, they will give you the best chance at a career after the Military and you won't have to duck and cover as much.

As long as you are otherwise qualified, and you are able to pass the GED the Army will take you. It is a little more paperowrk, but it can still be done.

Most branches of the military require at least a GED. The Marine Corps requires a High School Diploma.

You may want reset your priorities and take another stab at getting at least that GED.

But, go to a Recruiting Station and ask them.

Why did you drop out?
Go back and get your GED because the military won't take you unless you have one.
You can be successful without a GED if you work your butt off. My Grandfather (RIP) was an 8th grade drop out and he retired a multimillionaire.
So it's not impossible and be thankful that you live in the greatest country in the world where opportunities like that are abundant.

Not unless they have changed there policy since I served in the military the answer is No!
Now I do know that the Army National Guard,use to take people who did not have a high school diploma or a GED,but so much has changed you need to check into it instead of asking a question for other people to answer for you its not hard just call them.
This does not make any sense you are obviously old enough to join the military and now you say you will have no where to go soon well tell us who's fault is that,when you dropped out of school you realized it was going to be hard and yet you did nothing and now your scrambling to do something now let me guess your parents want you out of the house right?
If you want to go into the military and it hasn't been that long since you left school so your mind should still be fresh and you do not have a criminal record mainly felonies,than go get your GED,and than if you still want too join the military but remember this you have to take the ASVAB,test to join the military as well you don't past that you are not going any where good luck!

I think that you have to have something(diploma, GED, certificate of Attendence, etc). It's not like the old old days where all you have to do is show up and the recruiter will take you. But you try the Navy. They will take anybody and give you a f$%&^d up job at the bottom af one of thise ships. Or have you carrying chains on an A/C Carrier to tie down the jets.

i know in the Army National Guard if you didnt graduate or get a GED...they have a program for you to get a GED while you are in the guard...

The military will indeed take you my boy. They like guys who have no life and can be molded into a responsible American soldier. Just remember that it's your life to do with what you want and it's up to you to become successful or join the rank of the downtrodden and hopelessly unemployed! If you have nothing else going, go Air force or Navy.
