Because you served a country that is overseen by a government that doesn't really appreciate you--and I'm not just talking about George W. Look at our history. The men and women who served this country have always been given a penny when they deserve a pound. Veterans in the VA hospitals go ignored, Veterans who come home from war not given proper psychological and physical attention. Veterans being woefully underpaid. It's difficult for you to find a job because your government has used you and now they're done.

I sincerely hope you find suitable employment because, God knows, you deserve at least that much.

military skills dont = job skills, and just think with the immigration reform you wont even get a job cleaning toilets the President thinks americans dont want to do the hard jobs.

It is the Bush economy, supply side economics has never worked and always ends in a recession, they have changed how they count unemployed to only include those that are drawing it, so the many that have run out of it are not counted. Just keep voting repuglican and you can expect worse, maybe even another deep depression.

There is usual an economic problem after a war (or during depending on your field). When there are lots of people looking for jobs and there aren't enough to go around then that is a problem. Supply and demand. It also depends on your experience and whatnot.

Because people are hypocrites, they show so much support for the troops by putting a bumper sticker on their car or getting on Yahoo Answer's and telling everyone. But when the troops really need something they turn the other cheek. They're too afraid that if they hire you, you will have to go back and they'll be forced to hold your job for you and replace you while your gone. That is assuming you are a veteran who is still in the military of course which seems very likely to me...

You may have 10 point preference for a Civil Service position depending on your service awards. Local VA rep should be able to help eligible vets...

No jobs for one, and sad as it sounds you are right its not just the camel Jockey wars its been that way for a long time. The real reason is the Government really don't care about the vets. As long as our men, women keep fighting wars to make their pockets fat that's all they care about, sure they say its for piece, piece of the pie for them.I am so glad that you made it home where you belong and are a live to ask such a good question and thank you for laying your life on the line for that same Government that cant give you a job guess they figure military benefits are enough to support you in these poverty times.

Are you free from celebrations for coming back home safe?
Have fun and enjoy your life.
Incidentally how many people you did not kill in Iraq? You can be proud of the number.

Like Nam Vets. Peole are afraid to hire us. They think we will go off and kill everyone.

You are not trying hard enough because there are jobs all over the place where I live.

part of it is the economy, jobs in general are not easy to find right now unless you want to flip burgers or work a cash register. Part of it is that the skills you get from the military may not translate well to a civilian job. Sure, you can fire a rifle, drive a tank, call in artillery fire, but to an employer that doesnt mean much.

Not only you, everybody has the same problem. We are heading into depression.

It's hard to find a job right now for everyone. I have no suggestions for you really, just wanted to say Thank You for your committment to our country and your service to us.

Because your great country ACTUALLY doesn't care for its people. See how it grows greater externally and weaker and more depressed internally. Why is this do you think?

In states with strong veteran support, military service means a lot. Pennsylvania for instance looks favorably on military service, even for school teachers. The key words, "Attention to detail", dependablity, leadership all fly on a resume. Press your VA office for vocational rehabilitation. One of the things FDR did was give us veterans more benefits than the average citizen. You are guaranteed a home and a job. We will train you until you get one. Press that VA and go to a temp agency. Go to baseball games, go fishing/hiking, and hang out with friends to get used to civilian life again. Took me 6 months to find a job after the military and another 8 months after I graduated college. It's tough, but you will succeed. You will find at times that people do have a profound respect for veterans and will even give preference in hiring.

Because the war has been unpopular, I wouldn't highlight the war, but would the service. It is difficult to find good workers who will selflessly look out for everyone at the office these days. It is something to be proud of.

If you can, consider Colorado, Georgia, Florida, Arizona, Texas, New Mexico, and Nevada. They are fast growing states for a reason: jobs.

You can work security while you look for something worth while.

Good luck and thank you for all that you have done.
