No I think it is a waste of time I've been there once and my husband has been there twice( at which he is over there fo rth third time now). I think bush doesnt even know why we are there anymore. I feel if we pulled out tonight Iraq would go back to the same way that it was and as you know the Iraqy's are cool with the way it is. They probably been fighting each other since way before we steped foot out there. All I have to safe is please be safe I know that is a hard one but try. WHen I was over there last time I had a problem with wearing all of my protective gear until my convoy got hit. Please be safe and dont try to be a hero. |

I don't know if you are religious but I will pray for your safe return home. No, "we" should never have been there. |

Leogirl, its easy for you to sit there and judge someone since you're not THERE fighting the fight. You dont know what his leadership is, he's asking a simple question.
Thats a question a lot of people ask every day. No we SHOULDNT be there. For what? Nothing is getting accomplished but soldiers dying every day. |

Your going to get a mixed opinion on here!
Me personally think that we have done all we can, if the people still want to fight we should leave them to it, they are very selfish, not only hurting their own people but also the people that have helped them.
If Mr Blair is able to walk away from a problem he has started why can't our forces?
I think very highly of the men that go out there to fight and protect our country, you should be very proud of yourself and your regiment. I will be routing for your safe return.
Good Luck and take care. |

No, of course not.
Iraq has become a liability for the U.S. - when we should be in Afghanistan repelling the resurgence of terrorist elements, we remain in the midst of a sectarian civil war that does nothing but energize Al-Qaeda. |

all the people who said yes to going to Iraq why are you not banging on the door to volunteer to go your just like - Blair_ bush_ brown I'm OK on you go when will they get it they created a problem not cured it so best of luck and look after yourself hope you get back safe its not the troops to blame |

We should never have been there, but the Yank government was looking for somewhere to throw its anger at for the Twin Towers so Bush made his mind up regardless of public or international opinion and poodle Blair followed. The continued presence is a disaster to the Iraqi people who are being killed and maimed in greater numbers than before and are also treated as dirt by the yank troops. We should be out now so I am sorry that you still have to go again, may be if the great Harry gets hurt or killed that will focus some political minds. |

If you've been there twice already - then you should already know. |

guess your going back as a force's personnel, so you have no choice, all i can say is keep your head down, like you we have no choice, our government has committed us to a war and the rights and wrongs of it are not for us to say, until the next elections. Just take care of yourself and your buddies. |

I don't think so maybe as a country we poke our nose into too many other country's buisnesses. I guess everyone has a different opinion on this and you have a job to do. It is time to leave them on there own in my opinion. |

from the day US forces are here in Iraq more then 600 thousand person died, Iraq became the most correpted country in all the fields, and have the worest health care system in the world along side with the world poorest countries, and every day more then 100 person died in Baghdad with more then 900 thousand orphan, America turn this country to hell and still mixing the poison with milk till now, and beleive me your forces will be back home with this hell still on so take it short and still where you are, every body did lose already |

I don't think we should still be there. We were told ages ago that troops were going to hand Iraq back to their own forces to control ASAP, but ASAP never seems to happen, which only causes even more danger for everyone. |

As your British Army, you should know from having been there twice that the only job we have is just mopping up mistakes made by our larger Ally there and of course, we all know it's because of Economy rather than WMD's that we are there in the first place. The Economy we are fighting for isn't our own and so we are doing a massive favour to our larger Ally by fighting this fight with them, so my answer here is NO.
But Orders are Orders, son, so go or you'll be in jail. Keep your head down and keep your buddies safe and you'll be fine. |

shouldn't have gone there in the 1st ... making a bloody mess in someone elses country and then have the cheek to moan when they want to come here ... |

In my opinion there should be NO British troops in Iraq.
I have looked at the other answers & can only say to you to please ignore the ones which answered in a negative way.
We, as a nation, are very proud of you for going. Keep safe. |

Yes of course we should still be there we will be there for some time ..I f we walk away we have lost the war and will highlight that to the nutters we can not show weakness in the war against terror and if we walked away all the deaths of personnel would mean absolutely nothing at all .We can not afford to lose this war as we will be making a rod for own backs and will prob have to go out again to clear up |

As I was waiting for this page to come up I noticed the first answer, what a pathetic answer. My heart goes out to you it really does. I actually tried to rejoin the WRAC to do my bit but I was just one year to old. Yes I'm afraid you must if this is you're job. Just keep in mind the bombings last year in London. Then think again. Trust me they started this not the other away around. Go knowing that we love you & honestly appreciate what you & everyone in the forces everywhere, are doing for their country. THANKYOU GOD BLESS!!!!! |

Having served two tour of Iraq I would like to say no we shouldn't be in Iraq however we now have a duty to protect the Innocent people of Iraq although my wife would disagree.we also have to help to rebuild the infrastructure because that is the penalty for being an invading/occupying force.leaving now would be bad and the consequences of this could be bad for both the UK and the US.
We all know that Saddam no longer had chemical weapons at the time of the 2003 war but bad intelligence stated otherwise so we invaded, but the truth is that the real underlying factor that prompted the 2nd gulf war was oil.
It certainly wasn't a regime change and if it was then why do we not stop Robert Mugabe from continuing his barbaric regime and mass murder. |
