I don't have Air force ROTC at my school and wondering if there are any programs that will allow me to join, go to boot camp this summer and continue school in the fall. There are a few people in my class who are attending school as their MOS but they have also been in the service for a little while.....I know I want to join as an officer after I graduate but I could really use the assistance to finish.

If you don't have AFROTC at your school and your school is not in a crosstown agreement with one that is, you may want to talk to an officer recruiter. The AF often has student loan repayment options for nurses. Its worth looking into. |

Whether you can enlist over the summer will depend on your academic calendar, when you can ship, and how long your tech school is. In the AF, tech school lengths for medical AFSCs (they're not MOSs in the Air Force) in class days (no weekends or holidays) are listed here: http://usmilitary.about.com/od/airforceenlistedjobs/a/afjobmedical.htm. BMT is now 8.5 weeks. If that can fit during your summer break, more power to you.
If you don't have access to an ROTC program, once you get your 4-year bachelors you'll need to apply to OTS (Officer Training School).
If you can get ROTC, you can try for AECP (stay on AD) or ASCP (release to Reserves), which let you go to college full-time and gives $15,600, not including the GI Bill. |

My wife is an RN. She considered joining the AF. At the end of the day, you have ability to make more money in the civilian world that the military side of things. Unless you have a desire to serve I would think twice about it. |
