Mr smith's score shouldn't be taken as a guideline. A 96 is a very good score. Most people score in the 50 range, but I've seen functional regular people score 30's.

Not that hard, you take it on a computer and get the scores back immediately, I got a 96..............

It's just a general knowledge test, no big deal. If you finished High school it shouldn't be a problem for you!

basic high school stuff...it is really equivilent to the SAT

Yeah, its really quite simple. There is two math sections. One is elementary stuff, the other more algebra. Theres word knowledge where they give you a word and you choose the meaning. Paragraph comprehension. Theres also like a mechanical section, electronics section and stuff.. But if you don't want to work on planes or boats or something the mechanical is no big deal. Overall its pretty easy. The toughest part is that its timed and some parts of the test fly by.. Good luck.

I took the asvab mid march. I thought it was going to be on the computer, but turned out to be a paper test. 50ish is average, I scored a 63 which is a little above average but I was personally disappointed/surprised. Scoring in the 90's is an excellent score. The test is broken down in different subtests as you may already know. I would say to buy an asvab study guide book ($2-$10 on amazon.com) Oh and don't over study :). Asvab for dummies and master the asvab are some good books, they include several practice tests. Good luck! :)

Your score is a percentile, basically how you would score if compared to a sampling of 100 random people aged 18-23. So even with a lowly 9, you scored better than 8%. Your best scores often come right out of high school because you haven't had time to forget it yet, haha. They throw in a ton of extra stuff that won't have any bearing on that score as well to see how well you'd do working with electronics, mechanics, etc. Expect it to take 2-3 hours for the test.

The ASVAB is nothing but general knowledge. Anyone with a high school education should have no difficulty. The ASVAB is just to help the military place you in the best job where you will be of the most use. Go to military.com and take a practice test.
