In basic, they supply you with everything. Washing your own laundry is part of the drill. You should be ok. |

The army does supply underwear [new] but nobody ever uses it! It is not designed to fit human beings! Take your own underwear and plenty of it.
Trust me you will be doing your own laundry!
Adam C...me thinks the closest you have been to the army is watching reruns of Dads Army! |

You are issued all your "kit" in the US Army including underwear when you first come in. After that you are expected to replace your "kit" from your clothing allotment. That is a monthly stipend your will receive with your pay.
You can wash it yourself or sign up for Quartermaster laundry for a small fee.
Yes you get your own stuff back.
It will be a good idea to label everything (not already labeled ) with your name. Avoids confusion etc. Good luck, you are starting on what can be the greatest adventure of your life. I spent 30 years in Service and while there were some very unpleasant times I would not trade the experience for all the money (or anything else) in the world. There is something about being of and with soldiers that makes all things better. |

You should bring with you a few pairs of white, cotton briefs. They will issue you a clothing allowance and take you to the base PX to purchase clothing items according to their requirements. You will be responsible for doing your own laundry, so you don't have to worry about wearing someone elses things. Also, you will probably be instructed to put your last name on each item of clothing so should you wash with a buddy, you can tell which things are yours. |

Wow who have you been talking to? Yes and they'll give you new underware... not someone elses. LOL! That's funny. Will you believe anything? Of course you'll get to wash. You're not going there to be tortured; you're going there for training. |

British or American?
If its british you take your own and trust me wearing someone elses pants is the least of your worries - within weeks youll be digging renches filled with boold piss and ****, youll be sat in the rain in your own muddy ditch on 24 hour patrols in which you want nothing more than to be at home in your bed with your teddy's but it will turn you into a man.
If it's the American Army then they wear each others underkakas all the time - they even wear there girlfriends ans sometimes dont wear anything as they sometimes need to slip there trousers of for a quick rogering by the general. |

First your recruiter should answer these questions for you. But You buy your own supplies that you will need and they will give you a list. Your laundry goes out in a laundry bag with your name and comes back in a laundry bag with your name and in most facilities you will have a washing machine that is used on Sundays mostly, But I do suggest guarding your clothing. Oh and for every cycle you will go to the PX to buy needed gear(underwear etc.) and everything you need will come out of your pocket. In cluding your first purchases, they advance your first check. Good Luck and remember Mind over matter. |

Yes you get issued ALL your clothing in the British Armed Forces, though there is nothing to stop you wearing your own, what ever is best for you.
You can do your own laundry, or get it done for you, it depends on were your based and what your doing.
You'll have a great time, good luck! |

It's an understandable worry, I wouldn't want to wear another guy's underpants either. But don't worry, I think it's in the army's best interests to have every soldier in his own underwear! You will get army issue socks, vests and pants, but in the case of underpants, you are allowed to take your own with you, just make sure they're easily recognisable, or sow name tags into them. As far as laundry is concerned, I can promise you'llbe doing your own! |

I honestly can't tell you about the British Army, but in the US Army, you are issued underwear. While in basic, you do your own laundry, and when you get to your station you have the choice of doing your own laundry or having it done for you at the Quartermasters. While deployed, you're laundry is washed for you at the Quartermasters.
The only TRUE way to find out if your own underwear is to write/sew your name in them. |

All of your own kit is washed by you, there is a laundry service, but you will have to do your own. Just make sure it is marked with a sew on tag and if it does go to the laundry it will come back |

I am a DS wife and yes they issue you underwear you even pick the type now. You always do your own laundry and they have alloted times for you to do so. Good luck and hope you do well. |

You will be fine in the skivie category! Just hang in there and keep yourself motivated, you will have so much else to think about during this life transition. good luck! |

If this is all you are worried about you'll be fine. Try not wearing underwear on the day you do your 20 mile forced march, Believe me, after that you'd wear Rosie O'Donnells dirty drawers and like it. You'll be cured of your underwear problem in a big hurry. Good luck! |

You will get all of that. Yes you can use the army laundry service, which isn't too bad. Or you can take it to a local launderrette, as I used to.
Also you can wear whatever you want under the uniform.
Of course things may have changed a little since I was in, but I doubt if it has altered too dramatically.
Good luck to you. |
