I am on SSI and unable to work, I am getting ready to marry a military guy will i lose this?

SSI is an income and resource driven program. It is a program for people with LIMITED income. SSI is nothing more than a Federal welfare program and is based on need. Even though you are disabled, your spouse's income and resources will be considered to determine if you qualify for continued SSI. I have worked with these programs for a number of years and I have seen people lose their SSI benefits because of a spouse's income.

No SSI is for you not husband and it has nothing to do with him or what job he does. The army doesn't care about what you make either.

So don't worry, you will continue to receive it. Now I am not sure what steps you will need to take when you move, if you will need to fill out new paperwork once you get to a new state or new country.

Since SSI is determined in large part by your income, you will most likely loose it once you marry. They will take your spouse's income into consideration and most of the time, that means you will be taking home more than the program allows. You will also have to inform the court that you are marrying a military man and may be moving out of the immediate area. You will need to notify thier father as well. When you do that, you can let the state know he has not paid any court ordered support. Also, check to see if your state has a program where the support is paid to the court system and they, in turn , deposit it in your account. It makes it harder for your ex to not pay as they will keep track and can attach wages and tax returns if needed.

first off you will not lose your court order child support I know because I'm a cop and a I pay child support for my two kids. If your x is not paying the support take him back to court if he doesn't show a judgment will automatically be entered against him and his wages will be garnished if he does show he's F$#K for not paying you so its a win win situation for you.

Now once you get married your husband will be able to claim your kids as dependents because you guys are married and hes has to get you enrolled in tricare and your military ID and so on. The military will recognize your kids as his dependents so don't worry about that just make sure you have their ssn cards and birth certificate's marriage certificates and so on because his recruiters going to need it

but like i said in the beginning you getting married has nothing to do with the fact that your x owes you money
