I am a 68W - Health Care Specialist (a.k.a Combat Medic), and I have known fellow female medics who have been in combat zones. The only jobs I know that are closed off to women in the Army are Infantry, Tanker, certain Artillery, certain Engineering, and Special Forces MOSes. I don't know exactly what you want, but I do encourage you to keep searching for that MOS that will be right for you.
Me being a 68W has given me EMT-Basic certification when I graduated from 68W school as well as experience to help me as I will go on to get my EMT-Paramedic license on my own. |

have you looked into the other military branches for the same or similar jobs? |

Honestly,
If I were you I would REALLY look into the Air force. You will get SO much more from the Air force then you will from any of the other branches. I am not sayin this because you a girl or anything, its just the Air Force will really get you the skills and education you will need when u get out to make it. |

Thats tough, because the father in me would tell you to rethink going in the Army.... just because of the state of the world today.
However, both my Father and Father in Law were in the service.
My Father was in the Airforce.... and he was involved in communications, ie translating codes and working on computers etc. That prepared him when he left the Air Force for a job in the Phone Company. That kind of job is open for men and women. If Combat is what your looking for, then I have to say rethink...
If a career after the service is what you are looking for, I would say computer related fields and Medical Fields might be the best choice.
Please just be careful in whatever decision you make. |

All branches are great...it just so happens that the Army is the oldest and the largest. Thanks for serving.
Stop worrying about what job and go join...whatever job you get is the "best" job |

there are MANY MANY MANY jobs open to women you just have to look into them all. Combat orientated jobs will not be open though but then again they wont be open to any woman in any service. I would suggest college before joining but if you want to enlist it will be great also. The one person above said the Army does not train you more than a security guard but that is not true at all. There are many fields in which going into will lead to better careers in the civilian world and also just being in the Military will open up a lot of closed doors you may have encountered in the past. I know for a fact that many civilian recruiters are looking for military people because of there training and ability to handle anything. My suggestion would be to go to more websites and speak to several recruiters because they could help you with your questions. Also score well on the ASVAB so then you can do any job open to you |

If the job says it is closed to women then it is some form of infantry or direct combat job. You want a job that can give you a skill when you get out. I was an aircraft electrician and was able to transition into to job market very easily, and there were plenty of women in aviation, many pilots. |

ok im in the army and the jobs that are closed to women are only closed to to the conditions in the field like males can live 2 months in the field without problems but supply (92 Series) usually has all the females but the job you want may be open in another branch |

You should talk to a recruiter, don't think there are many jobs closed to women. |

if you are joining you should talk to a recruiter, they will tell you what jobs you can and can't do
also talking to a recruiter will inform you on weather or not you want to be in that branch, other branches have different (and sometimes better) jobs.
i would definitely suggest you try the air force since you are a girl, or the navy |

My personal advice: Join another branch. The army doesn't really "teach" you anything. If you're not a lifer or don't get your degree, when u get out, u will probably only have the skills to be a security guard or be a cop. Look into the Navy. They have lots of specialized training and fields |

Joining the U.S army will probably mean you having to go fight in illegal wars, doesn't sound like a good idea tbh. |
