I had the words "Exit Only" tattooed above my butt as a tribute to the fact that I only want things exiting there.... not vice versa. |

Don't do it. It wouldn't be considered a tribute. You haven't earned the trident, so it would be disrespectful to wear it. |

Oh yeah... that is something that would be very inappropriate. Same with Special Forces, Semper Fi etc.
First, in general, getting it may be cool but you'll know you're a fake.. you never sacrificed anything and haven't earned it.
Second, your friends will know too. Some won't care, others will think it is disrespectful and tacky.
Third, and maybe most importantly, if you EVER meet up with a real Navy Seal he or they are very likely to take that tattoo off for you... for real, by force. They really don't play...seriously, they would find it extremely offensive, like you were spitting on them... and they wouldn't be in a very kind mood.
Something to really think about - Regardless of your thinking... it simply wouldn't be viewed as a tribute.
If you really want a tribute tatoo, have some guy put an Arlington Cemtary type grave marker on your with the words below it that say "We'll Never Forget". Dude... that might actually get a Navy Seal to buy a beer!
Hope that helps. |

I'd say no, it's kinda a right of passage to certain services to get certain tattoos after graduating schools. It might actually offend someone you meant to congratulate. |

I know people that have served in the military and some of them would be upset if you got a tattoo that only someone who was in the military should have. There are probably other tattoos you could get that would be a tribute to them...they deserve it but personally i wouldnt get a navy seal tattoo if you werent a navy seal. Just my opionion though |

You can get what you want
I would advise against it. |

Not cool. Get a tattoo of the American flag or another patriotic symbol but not a tattoo for a specific branch. |

I would think that you will regret it later. You would just be a "wannabee" and never the real thing. There are lots of other patriotic tattos that you can get. |

DO NOT GET THE TATTOO !!!
If you are not a SEAL, get the tattoo, and then meet some real SEALS, they will not be happy with you. This is especially true if you let people think you are a SEAL. There is no doubt you will at least get your *** kicked and might just have the tattoo removed with whatever sharp object is available. (Broken beer bottle works well) |

Yeah, go ahead and get it, just make sure underneath it, have "I am just a wanna be" tattooed. Better get an American Eagle, or the Flag. |

I think it would make you look like a poser. |

First off when you use the acronym S.E.A.L it should appear as I have entered it, no small letters as there is nothing small about the Teams. Secondly, you should never use a brand that you know nothing of, most S.E.A.L.s do not tattoo the trident on themselves so why would you? Thirdly, the way to honor us is to support the Navy, you can look up the UDT/S.E.A.L museum located at Ft Pierce Fl. Become a member and attend a muster. Lastly, those of you stating that a Operator or multiples would severely harm this person or any other person is false. It shows that in fact you also know nothing about our community. Would it show bad taste? Perhaps, but making statements involving violence is utter ignorance on your part. The Teams are comprised of Professionals and if any S.E.A.L. conducted himself in such a manner nowadays would be droped from the program. In the future please restrain from making such comments. |

do what you want...but you gatta ask yourself one question...do you really want to run the risk of pissing off one/multiple Navy SEALs should you ever come across one? |

Wow, going from Harley poser to hard-core poser in a week. Hope you've got the rest of your poser wardrobe ready to go.
Actually, I think the tat is a good idea - hopefully you live in a navy town, and spend lots of time showing off your tattoo to the real military guys. That could take care of the lack of pain and suffering in your life, and our pain and suffering in dealing with your questions. |

Perhaps if you had one that said "I support the (trident here)" but other than that, you'll probably be labeled a poser and encounter disgust. Make sure you get the support point across without actually claiming to be a Navy Seal. |

as a tribute to our military why dont you sign up and serve .If you had to bust your a--and put your life on the line would you want somebody going around with an insignia that separates you as one of the best would you want somebody that didnt earn it have one kinda cheepens it dont it Go asy your local motercycle gang if you can wear one of their patchs I,m sure they can help you decide |

I say it is a great idea. You will just have to do two things: (1) find out if the military forbids the reproduction of their seal/emblems (2)That you are not going to be tempted to lie about your affiliation. This means you are up to explaining OVER AND OVER AGAIN that u are not a Seal. Can u do that? |

Navy Sailor - GAI

As a real Navy Sailor I would say no. You can support and honor your military by maybe getting a patriotic tattoo instead. The SEALS are an elite community that deserve respect and honor, but acting as one of them when you are not is not the way to go about things.
If you HAVE to get a tattoo at all may I suggest the Don't Tread on Me flag.
If you don't know what it looks like or stands for look it up on the internet. It is a white and read striped flag with an eagle holding a ribbon/banner in it's mouth that says Don't Tread on Me.
I could explain the history of it to you, but I think you should do that. It is a very interesting story and means a lot more than a "gundecked" Navy SEAL tattoo.
Look into that if you want to honor both your free country and the people that fight everyday to protect it.
Thank you for thinking of us, but don't do something that may insult us more than make us proud of you. |

If you respect the Navy and you are really sure you want it (just as any other tattoo) then get it.. its your body and no one can "forcibly" remove anything from your body and no one can make you get it removed. I know someone with a USMC tat but he is not in the Marines, and he has showed it to plenty of Marines who thought it was showing them honor and respect for their sacrifice. This is a free country regardless of how anyone feels about your tat, and your body is YOUR body. |

depends on whats on the tattoo i guess, if you get one of the trident or along those lines, yeah.
just my personal opinion |
