Wrong, a war criminal is always a war criminal no matter if he won the war or not. |

Wow, good question. On the surface you would think so, but having been through war, it is truly different. We won the war in Iraq, and I personally & unfortunately knew some war criminals that were charged with killing innocent Iraqis. A war crime is basically an act that is so atrocious that it would even be considered a crime outside of war, such as rape or murdering innocent civilians. |

Your view is very simplistic. Assume someone attacks you.
2 possibilities:
- A guy comes to the rescue and helps you make the aggressor go away.
- A guy comes to help your aggressor attack you and they win.
Would you say that in the 1st case the guy would be a criminal if you both were to lose??? Are the 2 aggressors HEROES??? |

Well, whoever writes the history of the war usually determines who is a war criminal. Some people in the US (mostly right wingers) are still trying to clear the name of Lt. Calley who massacred dozens of civilians in My Lai, Vietnam. He was considered a war criminal, but now these supporters are trying to make him a hero. For killing unarmed women and children. God bless the USA :( |

I was going to say "that's ridiculous", but there is some truth to it. If Hitler had won WWII, he'd be a hero to the Germans, and so would his henchmen like Goering, and perhaps Churchill would have been executed as a war criminal. But that doesn't necessarily make it right. A soldier can be a war hero by fighting within the rules and not committing atrocities. Some German generals did that, like Rommel, and no one considers them war criminals. It's hard to say where to draw the line, but there is one, nonetheless. |

War criminals are the ones decided to be in Geneva Convention. Heroes are all dead. |

the criminal is the one who starts the war,
the hero is who tries to avoid going into one. |

I don't understand your question but I feel every Man and Woman that is in the Military right now are war hero's. And any American who calls our Military men criminals are nuts... Our American men has to do what they do to protect themselves no matter what! My question is how can you fight a war when the people you are fighting hides unless they strap a bomb to their bodies or pack their cars full of bombs? To me the only real hero's are the ones who will fight face to face like the American Military are doing. War criminals are the scum who are hiding with their little belts and cars full of bombs and thinks they will go to heaven killing themselves. |

I wholeheartedly agree with you!! It all depends on who writes the history books.
Perception is everything!!!!!
War does not determine who is right only who is left |
