How about this. Arrest all the illegals and let them choose internment or conscription. At the end of constrciption, they are citizens. Create an American Foreign Legion.

It's a good idea what you have going, but if you take a minute to think about it. Why are those inmates in jail in the first place? If we give that type a person a rifle and gear and we tell go kill iraquis. i don't believe they will just kill iraquies. They will most likely do the unthinkable and kill their squad. These type of people are in prison for the reason that they were not able to handle themselves. So what says that they will fight for a nation.

As far as the woman thing goes. it takes plenty of courage to go off and enlist, so if i were a guy and saw a woman enlisting i'd know that my courage is being met and that i will have someone who believes in their values fighting beside me.

I don't think so...what makes our army so strong is the fact thats it is volunteer....if we start focring people to go or even saying go or go to jail.....we will lose some of that....it takes a special kind of person to volunteer and go to war...and I would not want anyone but those strong hearted, determined people fighting for my country

Women should go wherever they want. If they want to put themselves in harms way, let them. I come from a long line of strong women who don't want to be held back. If we want to help, we're going to. Inmates would attack our troops, or desert anyway.

Great idea. I know if I had a loved one on the front lines, the first person I would want next to him would be a murderer with a loaded weapon.

The army doesn't allow ex-cons to join the military. I think that there would be a great deal of recruitement if the military allowed ex-cons to join with some kind of expungement deal. It's hard for an ex-con to get a job with a record, this would provide them a job for 8 years. With 8 years in a disciplined environment and an expungement, they would be able to lead productive lives.

I am serving over here right now and the last thing I want is a convicted felon watching my back. Not only are there many opportunities for theft over here as well as many other crimes, they are given a loaded weapon and are trusted with the lives of those around them.

a lot of people think that since they are in a war they can get away with things such as rape, etc. I think criminals would take advantage and harm innocent people.

I like that idea, take all the illegal immigrants, train them, tell them to go to Iraq and after you come back you can have your citizenship.because you've proved yourself to be an american while doing so, learn the f... language. No more multi lingual TV. Take all the gun toting gangs ship them off to Iraq and tell them you want a gun and kill, well, here you go.

But most of the prison inmates aren't smart enough to be in the
military, even if they wanted to.

Case in point, they got caught.
