It depends what you want to do. You should really talk to some recruiters - some from each branch before you make any kind of decision. You will never get any serious answers on here.

Army SPC

Almost became a Marine, but the Army puts your MOS in your contract, unlike any of the other branches.

I prefer army, my husband is Army he is a SPC and my brother in law is an ex Marine and was a SGT. I prefer the army because they are more realistic, the marines are all "I feel no pain"...etc... a lot (not all) of marines are just talk, I know there are some real bad *** ones out there, but I can't stand a man that is all talk. I support both of them and give them all the same respect.

Its all about the person though, some people hate being in the military, if you can't take being told what to do, then you don't need to be in the military. I know Marines that hate it and I know some guys in the Army that hate it, its all about the person and their attitude.

I would have to say Army. Marines have a certain mentality where they think they are the best and that they deserve to look down on everyone else. They arent even a real branch, just the Men's Department of the Navy. I do love them though, my two best friends are Marines. At least the Army guarentees your job in your contract versus the Marines. In the Marines you have to sign up then hope you get your job. I was very close to joining the Marines but thank God i talked to the Army recruiters first. The Army just has way more to offer. But God bless the Marines. The Army and Marines are on the same team, just wish there was not so much tension between them.

You can guarantee your MOS in your Contract. I had 25XX (Comm) in my contract and I was a 2531, Field Radio Operator.

Neither. Both are too close to the action and you don't have to live in a tin can with a bunch of Seamen. I'm happy in the Air Force. Push buttons, mission complete.

30 years U,S, Army.....went through the ranks.....held every pay grade except CSM.....private to captain.... Airborne Ranger Green Beret (Special Forces)....
two time combat veteran( Vietnam ; Grenada)....
Worked on secret missions..... ran spy networks....
DAME & DASE trained..... taught at two universities ( USC & UPR-Rio Piedras)..... conducted riverine combat operations..... air crash rescue.....
I was there when history was made......Son Tay Raid......Beckwirth's Iran Rescue debacle......the creation of Delta.....
Worked for the Shah of Iran..... known true heroes ....medal of honor winners....
Obviously I am bias toward the Army......

Yahoo Answers is not the way to go on this one. All you will get is different people going for whatever branch they are in! Not only talk to recruiters (most of the time you will get the same answers as yahoo b/c of the branch) also talk to friends, family and anyone who you think will give you a straight answer! Good Luck choosing. FIgure out what you want your job to be and what will be the best career move for you? This is what I have come to believe.

Marines-1st in the line of war, highly respected, a little training from every branch, but compacted (giving them the crazy feel)
Army-The most job opportunitied, rank up a little faster
Navy- Be ready for sea life
Air Force- The brains of the operation
Coast Guard-A long contract, they train in a beautiful facility, appealing to a lot of people dealing with Caifornia

Neither. I am a U.S. Navy veteran with 10 years of service. Most navy people don't think too highly of the marines. As for the Army, not much better. I don't hate these 2 branches, it just takes a different person than the navy or air force. I was an e-5 in the navy, my father retired from the air force as an e-5 also. My brother was an e-5 in the navy too.

MARINES! I have two sons in the military; one in the USMC and one in the Army. The Marine LOVES it and they take great care of him. The Army son HATES it and will be getting out as soon as he can.

I believe the Marines take you under their wing and REALLY care about you - as a Mom, that's what is important to me. As a retired Sailor of 24 years, it will make the difference of doing a 4-year tour and making the military a career and retiring before your parents.
