Ok I'm a skinny guy (5'11'' and 130 lbs). I want to join the military but I don't want to risk losing any weight. I was thinking about going Cavalry Scout or something but I heard you have to lift alot. I'm really strong for my size, but I just wondered if I would make it... any thoughts?

Don't worry, you won't lose any weight. you may lose some fat (maybe not in your case, doesnt sound like you have any) but you would gain that weight back in muscle (which weighs more than fat) so you will be gaining weight, not losing any.
And yes, i believe you would make it. Drill sgts know how to do their job good and you will hate them until you realize you never woulda made it without them. They will get you through though. |

WOW.. my bfs 5'11 and around 135, you wont lose any weight you'll lose fat but gain a lot and i do mean A LOT of muscles.. if you're strong then i do think you'll make it (: weight and strength are two different things how much you weight shouldnt affect your strength |

they'll feed you more than you knew was possible to eat, make you walk and work out all day. drink lots of water and don't quit and you'll be alright. size doesn't matter, it's about your ability to fight. i know that sounds like a cliche' but it's the truth. you'll find out a lot about yourself |

Don't worry. When I joined the AF many years ago, I was 6'3" tall and weightd 135. When I got out of boot camp, I weighed 155. Now, I'm in the Navy and weigh 170. You'll gain weight. My goal for the Navy is to get on the "fat boy" program, at least that's what I tell my superiors. |

you need to be thin in the army because there weight restrictions are insane, plus skinny people always gain in basic, mostly muscle, And everyone worries if they will make, thats part of not everybody will make it. And Cavalry scout is some hardcore ****, very exciting. GOOD LUCK! |
