talk to your recruiter.. i am doing the same thing...you can join with a ged and YOU CAN EVEN WORK IT OUT THAT THEY PAY FOR IT ged qualifications vary by state.. but the most important thing STUDY STUDY STUDY for the asvab. not one single branch will talk to you with a ged unless you score ATLEAST A 50. not to hard..but the basic for the marines i believe is 39..and thats if u wanna be a grunt
HERES A PRACTICE TEST...WONT GIVE U UR ASVAB SCORE BUT IT HAS GOOD PRACTICE QUESTIONS..TAKE SMALL TEST FIRST THEN AFTER U FINISH ALL 3 TAKE ALL THREE FULL LENGTH..IT HELPS

right now, due to the economy they have so many people joining, every branch told my son-in-law that GED is not good enough to get in. |

Quiting school shows that you lack focus and discipline. If you can't handle the stress, discipline and pressure of school, you sure are not going to make it in the Marines or in any branch of the military. |

It depends on if you mean that you dropped out of high school or that you dropped out of college.
The Marines will not take you unless you have a high school diploma, or possibly even a GED.
And since the economy is worsening, even MORE people are enlisting, so, if you are not the "cream of the crop" then you might have a harder time enlisting, even in the Marine Corps.
If you menat dropping out of college....you're in good shape then. |

The Marines don't want a dumb As5 finish school and make something of yourself. |

Marines are the only branch that don't accept drop outs. Even if you have a GED they won't accept it. You have to have an actual high school diploma. |

that's what a lot of drop outs do, they join the marines.
that's a courageous thing to do, so i respect your decision if you plan to join the marines.

No, you have to have at least graduated high school. |

If you get your Ged. You will however be held to a higher standard. You will need to score higher on your asvab and forfeit any sign on bonus offered. This is not so if you have 15 college credit hours before joining.
Standards for Enlistment
AFQT Required minimum scores as of January 2008 are as follows:
[1] Air Force/[2] Air National Guard 36 (GED Graduate is 65)
[3] Coast Guard 40 (GED Graduate is 50)
[4] Navy 35 (GED Graduate is 50)
[5] Marines 32 (GED Graduate is 50)
[6] Army 31 (GED Graduate is 31)
[7] Army National Guard 50
GED holders who earn 15 college credits 100 level or greater are considered equivalent with those holding high school diplomas. This would result in only needing the minimum score to enlist. |

All branches of Armed Forces require at least a GED.
You might consider JOB CORPS to help you get that GED. |

The military accepts applicants in regards to education in three tiers. Without obtaning a GED or graduating from high school you would fall into the Tier 3 category for which almost never get accepted. Though some branches of the military are more flexible then others. |

You can but you have to get your GED. And if I where you I would SERIOUSLY look into what your doing. I am very thankful for the marines but, it is the hardest training in the military. You have to be not only physically strong but WAY emotionally strong. Good luck. |

I recommend you get your GED. The marines would more likely get you dead or injured. |
