He will be based on Parris Island.
Initial training for those enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, also referred to as boot camp, is a thirteen week process during which the recruit is cut off from the civilian world and has to adapt to a Marine Corps lifestyle. |

Probably true; I understand the DoD believes that Cyprus is a hiding place for international terrorists. Bush intends to invade in the next few weeks.
This plan in Secret, I guess your friend has inside knowledge; which I why I am sending this answer to you on the email, rather than posting it in the normal answers space for everyone to see. |

No basic training for the Marine Corps is done in San Diego, CA or Paris Island, South Carolina (which is the only base that trains women as is the case with my training) and it is generally 6-8 weeks. He is pulling your leg, for some reason, enjoy the joke or get to the bottom of the "lie". |

he will be lucky to be out of receiving in 2 weeks.when you arrive at either parris island or san diego you are held in receiving until they have enough men to form 4 platoons.this is called a series.the series then progresses through training at the same time.in the fleet this is called a company.when i went through parris island in 86 i believe i was there for 13 Weeks 12 training and one holding to collect enough body's to form a series.you then have 3 phases of training.1st phase is getting you acclimated to the military life style.learning to march ,keep your gear squared away, how to clean your rifle{not a gun}basic stuff.phase 2 is nothing but the rifle range.shooting and running.running and shooting.phase 3 is when you get your gear for the field.you learn squad movements, how to throw grenades, night ops, your basic marine field training.at the end of your stay in the field everyone has to march i guess about 10 miles with a full pack{they make you take everything you own with you plus your weapon}if you drop out you have to do it over again, after you get recycled back to the following series.once you get back from this you start to get your hair cut into a high and tight instead of the skin head cut.you finish up your training in a few weeks and off to school you go.
so 2 weeks not on your life.your being lied to. |

That is a lie. I live in san diego and right near the marine corp recruiting depot. They train 13 weeks. Two weeks is the biggest laugh I have had today. Thirteen weeks is not long compare to how long the marines and my husband himself have served in the hot desert in iraq. get use to it he will be gone for a very long time. |

He is lying my father went thru Parris Island in the 50s. The last post by David G shows you that he is a Liberal and the first one to run when the enemy is coming. People like that we use for target practice cause he is a ******. |

No not true...i was Royal Marine who did my training at CTCRM in Lympstone, Devon...the training takes 34 weeks...he wont be posted anywhere until after his pass out parade at the end of the 34 weeks...assuming he makes it that far...its a very demanding course. |

Two weeks training? He lied to you. First off, boot camp is, I believe, nine weeks and then he will have a month at MCT (Marine Combat Training). It will be San Diego, CA or Paris Island, SC depending on where he enlisted out of. Then he will go to A-School which can last anywhere from a month to a year depending on his job. Then, if available, he will attend C-school for more training in his field. After he has completed all of that, he will be stationed where the Marine Corps needs him most. He won't find that out until he is almost done with his training in C-school (or if not available, A-school). This guy is definitely lying to you. |

To begin with, the basic training of a Marine takes longer than two weeks.
And with regards to postings later: Cyprus has British garrisons. So if your friend joined the Royal Marines in Britain, he might well be sent there on a tour of duty.
If he joined the USMC, the Royal Dutch Marine Corps, the Royal Spanish Marines or the Reggimento San Marco (Italian Marines), he will not be posted to Cyprus. |

r u sure that he doesnt mean when he has finished his training? |

No... after two weeks he will only of learnt to brush his teggies.. walk in a staight line and polish his boots. Sounds like he should be a politician not a marine. |

The answer is no. Training can take a couple of months to complete. The only way he would be in Cyprus after 2 weeks was on an exercise or on some adventure training. |

i doubt that, 2 weeks training your having a laugh aint you. |

I suppose it may be possible, but that is probably where he will continue "camp" or further training. He probably has the best information, from this recruiter, as to where he will be stationed, so I would trust what he says. |
