I hope i serve with this guy when i join the british army?

I wish the media would leave him alone. Harry is training to fly at the moment at an airbase very near where I live, and the police surround the whole area before he comes to work in the morning and leaves in the afternoon, and the press are there outside the base trying to get snapshots of him with their huge telephoto lenses. I've never met him, but he passes through my village most days, and many people do respect him. I felt a bit sorry for him when he got sent home early from his tour of duty last year because if you train with people, eat breath and sleep with them, then you should be able to start and finish with everyone else, he's only a man like the rest after all. I think he just wants to be a plain old soldier like everyone else in his squad, and the 'Prince' title doesn't even come into it really. It wouldn't bother me fighting along side him, though I'm too old now and long left the forces. I wish Harry all the best.

It's standard ribbing in the British Army, even amongst officers.
It's no different if you have ginger hair - you're called a GWA (Ginger with attitude) or scottish you get called a FRISP (F@ckin repulsive Ignorant Scots Pig) If you're short you get called a PORG (Person of restricted growth) and so on

The press have no idea of all this and make a big deal over a trivial remark, even Ahmed wasn't bothered by it!

Note: I hear Harry has earned a lot of respect in the Army, I was in Basrah when it was leaked he was going to serve in Iraq, all the squaddies in Basrah Air base had T shirts made up saying "I'm Harry" with a sniper's cross hairs on the back, a bit like the "I'm spartacus " scene

you'l find that when u join the army everyone talks like this anyway. right or wrong...99.9% of people in the army dont take offence at that kinda thing, bet out Harrys been called a ginger tw@t more than once

Don't read to much into it, my girlfriend and I racially abuse each other (in private) all the time, it's just a joke. The word wasn't used in a nasty or spiteful way, and I expect the big eared ginger tosser gets his fair share of stick too.

If you're going to spend time crouching in a hole with someone dodging bullets. I'd imagine it's as well to get on p*ss taking terms well in advance.

I'm sure you'll make some great mates in the army, whoever you serve with.

What exactly do you think army life is like,these are young men training to kill or be killed,sure comment are made many times so what. But, on the other hand this arrogant young man needs to be told to behave himself he is in a well financed position,very much in the public eye he shows a lack of maturity not good for a supposedly leader of troops, possibly too much money readily available,Senior officers will have no real authority on this young man
