I wasn't going to answer this question, until I read some of the answers. ROTC and enlistment both have positives and negative things going for them, so I will attempt to address both. As far as ROTC goes, what is your major? You would have to talk with an rotc adviser to find out if it is something the Army (I am retired Army) wants or needs and then be willing to attend what is called a compression course. ROTC is a 4 year program, but Army rotc can arrange for you to do the first 1 - 2 years over the course of a summer. If your degree is not in a discipline the Army needs, but you would like help in paying off most or all of your loans, then look into the Army as an enlistment during the last half of your senior year and enlist for the loan repayment program, 1/3 of your loan paid each year during the first 3 years of a 4 year enlistment term (don't remember the exact dollar amount they will pay) and then apply for OCS during your 4th year based upon your enlisted MOS (job). None of the other branches offer the loan repayment option, not sure about the rotc compression course. |

Definitely stay in college.
It's much better being an officer than enlisted. |

ROTC is great if you have good study habits and think you will be able to graduate college. You can also join the Army as enlisted for 2 years and see what you think of it all. Then apply for an ROTC scholarship or just use your GI money to go to college. If you did not do well in high school ROTC may not be the way to go. |

Officer's pay more than the regular enlists, I'm in the Canadian Military myself but I'm not too familiar with the American system; however if you have the opportunity to get into ROTC; DO IT! |

Go ROTC. College and ROTC will give you enough time to figure out if life in the military is right for you. |

ROTC would be better but because you could finish college and you would enter the military as an officer instead as an enlisted person. But there is no guarantee you will make it through. I think you will find out that most who enter ROTC programs never get their commission. |

do rotc.. my older bro is a junior in collage and is doing this. it pays for his college, hes in inactive duty, and only has to do stuff every week or so and gets paid. if you join the army, you might have to quit school which wouldnt be a smart thing to do. |

Do both. That's what my boyfriend's doing.
ROTC is reserve officer training core. He's trained by the US army to be an officer and they pay for schooling and he's considered to be in the army reserves. |

Look your best option is to go ROTC. I was a soldier for 4 years believe me you wont have time for school. While you home you will be expected to go training which can last up to a month. Think about doing home work in a tent in the middle of the night. Besides in order to go ROTC while your in are slim if you don't believe me ask your recruiter how many people went green to gold last year. Stay in school you get paid a lot more as an officer. |

Join ROTC and if you like it then when you finish school join the ARMY or Reserves. That way you'll have a higher pay when you join the Army and you will get a idea of that the Army is like |

U know that ROTC can also be the army, you just aren't shipped out right away.
A friend of mine is really into the army, has been overseas a couple times and he was so excited when he got into an ROTC program. |

I turned down the Air Force Academy for ROTC at Auburn and then when I graduated I became a 2nd LT. I would never enter the Army as an enlisted. Officers have better quality of life. GO OFFICER... not even a comparison.

Do ROTC. After you finish you are already an officer. Also they will help you pay for schooling. I have a couple of friends in the Navy ROTC. One more thing, if you want to get paid more and live in a better barracks then go Air Force ROTC.
Hope that I could help. |

If you are ok with killing someone personally, then join the Army. If you are ok with telling other people to kill, then be an officer. |
