I want to know which military branchs are the first to be sent out. What military branches are not likely to be sent out. What does the National Guards, Coast Guard do? What military branches are good to get into...why ?
Additional Details

The Marines are known to be sent first. I believe the Coast Guard has a couple "units" stationed in the Middle East but I also believe they are the least likeliest to be sent out. Lately, as you may have heard elsewhere, the National Guard has been used a lot lately. I've seen a lot, and I emphasize a lot, of my friends in the National Guard deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan. Hope this helps. Don't listen to people who say you're a coward. Anyone else who posts here that serves will understand you're scared, but those who serve also know they have a job to do. If you're looking for a job you want and need desperately, I've known that the Army is good at that and they have many, many bases around the country (including the N. Guard). Just make sure you do some research and gather more information from people who know a lot.

You are more likely to be sent with the Arrmy whether active duty or guard.

IMO the Air Force has the best benefits for the service member and family over all.

It all depends upon what you want from the military. I'm coming up on 22 years in the Air Force. Why did I join? I'm a computer geek and they have the best jobs for programmers. Also during that time I have gotten my BS in computer science and am on my towards my masters. But that's what I wanted. Do you want to travel? Do you want to go overseas? Do you want to go into combat? Do you want to do 6 months at a time of sea duty? Do you want high discipline? Do you work well with teams or better by yourself? These are just some of the questions you need to ask yourself. Talk to all of the recruiters. Don't let them talk to into anything. Their job is to get you into their branch of the military. So do your homework, think about want YOU want, and good luck on your decision!

Depends on the theatre (Location).
1st.) Typically the Air Force first to clear path for the ground troops and to maintain Air Superiority Usually the F22 Raptors & Stealth Fighters are sent in then B1 & Stealth bombers.
2nd) in a supporting cast to the Air Force the Navy which the Marines are part of. The Navy will use the Air Craft Carrier Fleet to provide close Air support for the Marines and to use Battleships to launch Missiles to prepare the landing of the ground troops.
3rd). Marines in conjunction with the Navy. The Marines typically secure land for the War Front and move in to territory
4th) Army. After land has been secured for landing the Army invades at the War Front secured by Navy & Marines. and the Army attacks from behind enemy lines once the enemy focus has been diverted.
5th) If the situation calls for more support the Military (all branches) Reserves are sent in to support.
6th) Not Likely to enter theatre are the National Guards (NG's) are more for support in the State that they represent. However they can be called in to support war efforts as in Iraq & Afganistan
7th) Coast Guard will not go to theatre. They will protect our coastal waters

Branches Good to get into Would be Air Force. They have great environment to work in, or Cost Guard. Coast Guard is nice, because you stay in the States. Army offers more job opportunities and prehaps even more advancement opportunities.

OK hell no, the army does not go out until the MARINES have landed. Marines always go first along with the air force and marine air and navy who do the intial bombings but it all depends on what you want want good luck

If you are looking at joining I would highly recommend the Coast Guard...Go talk to a recruiter. I did 6 years and got the best education and had a lot of fun. I even saved a life!! I even went on some drug raids..Look at the link and read more about them..most peole dont have any idea what we do.
The Army Marines and National guard are all being deployed and the navy is involved as well

I am in the Air Force and I was deployed to Qatar for 5 months and that was it. Most of the Air Force don't move too much to war zones. But being a airplane mechanic you move around the US every 2 years or so. It is the best life i could imagine and would reccommend it. But out of the branches, Army and Marines are the ones most likely sent to the war area.

First to be sent out
SPEC OPS, do the surveillance.
Path Finders set up LZ's

MARINES AND ARMY are first to go out depending on mission.
Marines and Mechanized Infantry were the ones to see the first battle in IRAQ (after Spec Ops)

Airborne function to take airstrips, and prepare for follow on missions.

AIRFORCE technically is the first to go on a non-special operation basis. they will soften the targets.
With Marine and Army mechanized units on the ground.

Navy will support from afar.

= = = as can be seen in IRAQ -- all units will go out.
Reserve and national guard components will support with things like Check Point guards, stuff of that nature.

Airforce deployments are probably the best (3-4 month intervals -- and yes they care and take care of their soldiers the best)
So the most cushiest of all branchest would be the airforce (granted there are some jobs in the airforce that are dngerous, but as a majority role, not too much in harms way do they get)

Next best/safest deployment would be the navy.
Since our current direct enmiescant withstand going head to head with the greatest navy in the world, youre safe as a kitten on a nuclear sub, or anything the navy sends out you on for that matter.

your only threat for the duration of deployment would be battling boredom and sea sickness, and developing alcoholism. j/k

Army and Marines with edge going to marines for combat time.

Every marine is a rifleman, so you will see action.
and theres actually one true MoS in the army -- thats 11B baby, with all others acting as support.
(im biased - what can I say...AIRBORNE)

but with all things considered, Id have to say in time of war, I would pick entering the marines -- or 11B airborne infantry...as the army will put you out on details that might put you in harms way, and if you arent trained for direct combat, then your SOOL.
And the marines will definitely train you for combat
And only particular Army MoS' will.

And no one try to argue with the 9 weeks of Basic Training that only spends about 3 weeks altogether on MOUT and Marksmanship.

Hope it helps
