I need to know how long training in certain Army AIT's are?

hi, i've been thinking about joining the Army and going for one of the Ranger battalions on and off since i was a little kid, i'm 20 years old now and a sophmore in college. Right now i'm in a self imposed probationary stage of my life where i've decided to wait until i'm 21 to make my final descison on whether or not i'll join so i could figure out if i'm still serious about it while still being able to get some more college credit out of the way. My first question is do you have to enlist for a certain career in order go for RIP? I've been thinking about being a translator, how long do you think the personal training after Basic for that would be since i would like to volunteer for Airborne school afterwards?

These are questions you need to ask your recruiter. I would finish school first then join, or enroll in ROTC at your school. Officers have it made!
You can get Airborne in your contract, its not that bad of a school since its co-ed. As for the MOS you want to go 11B, 11C, or 13F. I went 13F and went to 2nd Batt. I had to wait to go to pre-ranger then ranger school. Until I left, I was dogged out by PFC's because I didn't have my tab yet. I don't know if you can get ranger school in your contract, but as soon as you get to the ranger batt they'll send you. It's tough man! Little to no sleep, little to no food, and constant running and road marching! Good Luck!

i know that for the training course for arabic is 16months long, and i believe it doesnt matter what MOS you choose you can go to w.e training you'd like but be advised if your MOS is translator and you go to airborne school youre gonna be translating not making combat jumps, if you want to go RIP go RIP..... stick to an MOS youre gonna want to stay in unless the job you want requires military service before joining.... good luck to you the decision will come to you, it took a while for me to make my decision but i knew i wanted to go into the military once i started commiting and going to meps and taking the test i got really amped up for it and once i signed up it was such a good feeling and i now i cant wait to leave

It all depends on the MOS (Military Occupational Skill) that you have chosen, some are 3 wks some 6 some 8 and some a few months, Jump (Airborne) school, If I remember correctly is 3 wks. and that is taken I believe down in either Ft Benning Ga or Ft Bragg NC

If you want to be a linguist and get airborne in your contract, you could easily be assigned to MI support of Spec Ops forces. If you want to be a Ranger, go with what the other guy said about 11B, 13F etc. The Army isn't going to send you to a language school for months and months and months and then have you get killed seizing an objective. Those two career paths are too divergent. There are some MI assets within the Rangers but if they will give you an intel MOS with option 40 (RIP) is (in my opinion) unlikely, but there is only one person who can tell you for sure... your local recruiter!
