Ok, well, I'm still young and not really close to this, but I have been thinking about joining the army when I am old enough. There's only two problems. One is that I don't want to be in the army for life, because I'd like to also be a psychologist. The second problem is that nobody thinks I can. I told my mom and she laughed and made fun of me. I feel like nobody believes I can do anything. My mom doesn't think I can be a psychologist because of all the science classes I'm willing to take, my family made fun of me when I said something about joining the army, and my sister doesn't even think I can get a stupid baby-sitting job over the summer! Can anyone help? Just tell me what I should do. If you think I should seriously consider joining the army or not. And I know some people are going to say things like "violence and war isn't the answer" and stuff, and I don't think so, either, but I still want to join the army anyway. So please don't put opinions like that otherwise I will report them. Help and advise much apreciated. Thanks for at least taking the time to read my question!

I talked to some of my friends at school and one told me not too because it is dangerous and stuff (she's not the kind of person who likes to get dirty, let alone watching one of her friends join the war). Another one of my friends just kind of stared at me and then said "sure, that'd be great". I guess it was just such a sudden question. The other friend I ask said I should totaly join. Idk.... If anyone has any information on the army, please feel free to add!

I think that if it's what you'd like to do you should at least give it a try. I would let their negativity drive you to prove them wrong. It would be better to at least try it, if it's something you are interested in doing, if not you may spend the rest of you life wondering what if...
Do some research into what it will be like in the military. Decide for yourself if it is something you want to do. This is YOUR life, don't let others tell you what you should do.

You could go reserve or active duty and work on a psychology degree while doing either, though it make take longer active duty because you are working full time. Plus, the Army will help pay for your college.

Sounds like your parents aren't very supportive. If you only want to join the military part time- the Army Reserves is good. Its 6 or 8 years but you go once a month and two weeks a year. Sometimes three weeks depending on the training mission. This would allow you to attend school and pursue a career in psychology. If you truly want to do this, you can. Your parents may just try to hinder this by telling you you're not good enough. My mom said the same thing- 12 years later I am still doing well! |

Believe in yourself, that's all you need! Join man, and do what you think you will do the best in, don't listen to other people except yourself, you think anyone else is going to be there in the end? Don't make decisions on other peoples opionions or viewpoints. |

think for yourself don't relie on the opinions of complete strangers to make a decision that will effect 2 to 4 years of your life .If you want something bad enough then you will achieve it, you can do what ever you want |

Don't join the military. There are plenty of better things you can do with your life.
And your family, don't pay attention to them when they try to bring you down. Study hard, go to college, become successful and laugh at them later in life. |
