Here is a poem I wrote for my brother while in Iraq and nearly lost his life thought you might appreciate it....

Our Hero, Our Son...
The land of the free, the home of the brave
this is the reason for the flag that we wave.

There's tears that are shed, for the souls who have bled
for sadness and fear and, the one we hold dear.

The Star Spangled Banner, we will sing it out loud
it was written for those who make us most proud.

Wars will be fought and wars will be won,
by the one who's our Hero, the one who's our Son...

No, they are not heros. They are couragous, patriotic Americans doing a lousy job. As a veteran who's seen combat duty, I can tell you that just doing your job does not make you a hero. Going above and beyond makes you a hero. Don't diminish the word. It's like calling everyone you dislike a Nazi.

ok. so HELL YEA i do think they are heroes because they put their life on the line for us everyday and defend our freedom. what is wrong with you liberals??? i mean they risk their lives and the least we could do is support them. ask yourself this, what have you done for your country? look up the lyrics to Voyager by Gamma and i have a feeling you might change your mind.

THE MARINE

This is a poem being sent from a Marine to his Dad.
For those who take the time to read it, you'll see a letter from him to his Dad at the bottom. It makes you truly thankful for not only the Marines, but ALL of our troops.

THE MARINE

We all came together,
Both young and old
To fight for our freedom,
To stand and be bold.

In the midst of all evil,
We stand our ground,
And we protect our country
From all terror around.

Peace and not war,
Is what some people say.
But I'll give my life,
So you can live the American way.

I give you the right
To talk of your peace.
To stand in your groups,
and protest in our streets.

But still I fight on,
I don't *****, I don't whine.
I'm just one of the people
Who is doing your time.

I'm harder than nails,
Stronger than any machine.
I'm the immortal soldier,
I'm a U.S. MARINE!

So stand in my shoes,
And leave from your home.
Fight for the people who hate you,
With the protests they've shown.

Fight for the stranger,
Fight for the young.
So they all may have,
The greatest freedom you've won.

Fight for the sick,
Fight for the poor
Fight for the cripple,
Who lives next door.

Hey Dad,

Do me a favor and label this "The Marine" and send it to
everybody on your email list. Even leave this letter in it. I want this rolling all over the US; I want every home reading it. Every eye seeing it. And every heart to feel it. So can you please send this for me? I would but my email time isn't that long and I don't have much time anyway. You know what Dad?I wondered what it would be like to truly understand what JFK said in His inaugural speech.

"When the time comes to lay down my life for my country,
I do not cower from this responsibility. I welcome it."

Well, now I know. And I do. Dad, I welcome the opportunity to do what I do. Even though I have left behind a beautiful wife, and I will miss the birth of our first born child, I would do it 70 times over to fight for the place that God has made for my home. I love you all and I miss you very much. I wish I could be there when Sandi has our baby, but tell her that I love her, and Lord willing, I will be coming home soon. Give Mom a great big hug from me and give one to yourself too.

How about everyone in the Military?

The army has real heroes, yes. Everyone in the army? I won't call anyone who tortured prisoners, raped young girls, killed innocent people a hero. These are criminals.

Every organization in our society, the army included, has heroes and maniacs. The teacher that makes a good difference in students life is a true hero; the teacher that ruins their future is harmful trash. I just hope we have more good than bad in our society.

i think that a LOT of the men and women in the service are heroes, but not all of them. there are some pretty crazy people in the military. but, as a generalization and a majority, i do believe that people in the military as a whole, are all a hero in some way or another.

I think that every one in the military serving and risking their lives are heros. And to all of the Jar Heads out there, OOOORAAAHHH , Semper fi Marines.

All of our servicemembers are heroes -- those serving, those going to serve, and those who have served Honorably -- including the Military Retirees.

The word "I" is always capitalized. "Everyone" is one word. The word "are" is spelled this way. "Heroes" is spelled this way. The word "you" is spelled this way. "Everyone" agrees with the word "is", not "are" (or "r"). What is rendered is apparently two separate ideas, thus two sentences, yet it lacks the punctuation, etc. to make two sentences. This is the way the educated render the same sentence: "I think everyone in the army is a hero. You?" Ask yourself this question: Will using standard English make intelligent people disrespect you? And answer only to yourself. Good luck.
