Iraq is a prime example why we need to control the middle east. Iran is the main sponsor of terrorists, and have long since caused issues for us and our allies. I think we need to send a million daisy cutters, along with a million tons of napalm and then top it off with forty atomic bombs. That shoul wipe out all their nuclear intentions and keep Israel safe. The same needs to be done with Syria. Only THEN will there be true peace in the middle east. In a decade, once democracy is in place, we can bring our troops home. What say you all? Honest answers only.

That would be great...except it's flawed.
As a moderate liberal I have ALWAYS advocated to my leftist friends that Iran is the biggest threat. (Saddam was too and needed to be removed and dealt with...but--sorry---I don't buy the fact he was trying get WMD back and was keeping Al Qaeda facilities within its borders---but I digress). We need to confront them...but I don't think war is the answer (at least not right now while we are engaged in Iraq).
Speaking of Iraq...our objectives failed because we didn't plan correctly....nor did we stop to think about what may happen to us if we DID have to engage Iran in the future (while we were currently seeking to fullfill our objectives in Iraq). That will hinder us, again, from seeking a permanent solution to the problem plaguing Iran---for Iran is the central antagonist in the War on Terrorism. We should have thought this entire process out well before invading Iraq--but we are stuck with this mess---so we must deal with it. Just think if we decided to invade Iran with the same kind of planning we did with Iraq? It would have been a TOTAL nightmare!
Also keep in mind that Democracy is vital---but not everyone likes to live in a Democratic world. I don't advocate dictatorship or communism, for that matter...but we must understand that Democracy doesn't have to be brought to every single country in the world. However...I DO believe in bringing stability to a nation---and we should encourage the growth and happiness of that nation. In the long run, it's better for their people---and it's better for us...and that is the key to winning the War on Terrorism. |

It would outrage the international community, and I am convinced their would be survivors. By quickly eliminating all of those "enemies" in such a brutal fashion, you would only create more. It's not like doing that will create world peace, only ignorant people think you can just brutally eliminate all your enemies to solve the problem.
Iran is an alleged sponsor of terrorism, although it's probably 100% true. At any rate, these activities account for minor disturbances in the grand scheme of things. Nothing to start a nuclear war over. |

First I want too say, I not a conspiracy theorist.....that being said, When Nixon took us off the gold standard, and got the middle east oil barron's too sell their oil based on the us dollar, as you can imagine, it forces other countries to play ball with the usa to garner dollars.....the Iraq problem started LOOOONG ago, Iraq wanted to produce oil to benefit the Iraqi people and country, we wanted it in the control of a certain entity.....thus the usa helped install saddam, to remove the freethinkers.
Saddam was getting ready to change tactics , and use the euro as the basis for Iraqi oil sales.....and so, Alan Greenspan was at liberty to inform everyone after he retired from the FED, that we are in Iraq because of the oil, not terrorism.
Terrorism is the after effect of us being on middle eastern soil, this is no secret to the cia, or the 9-11 commission.
so, fighting with Iran or Syria will only insight more hatred for our country, and will serve no protection from terrorism....changing our foriegn policy to a non-intervention policy would actually make the world alot safer....and since 9/11.....the word " Terrorist " has become loosly defined, and the patriot act is a prime example of that.......according to the patriot act, if you disagree our governments policies, and you openly object, you can and will be labled a terror suspect, with the possibility of having your assets frozen, your citizenship removed..or worse.
this country has achieved Thomas Jefferson's worst nightmare.....a large government in charge of the people, rather than serving the people. |

Let's assume for a moment that you are kidding. That your question is an example of hyperbole, intended to draw out people. That by making such a statement, you actually expose the inanity of the proposition.
Because if you meant it, you still exposed the inanity. War with Iran is entirely insane absent a very large and serious act of unprovoked aggression committed by them against the US directly.
Use of air assets will not win a "victory." It may produce piles of smoking ruins, but airplanes do not equal boots on the ground. This was a failed strategy against Germany in WWII, against Vietnam, and even in the Sudan. Lack of sufficient forces (as well as any kind of coherent understanding of the needs presented by the conquest) after the invasion of Iraq is directly responsible for the morass there today, and no amount of forces are now sufficient to hold that country.
Advocates of war against Iran don't need brain surgery - they need a hemorrhoidectomy. |

i bet you're about 40 years old, couldn't get in the armed forces, and still play with toy soldiers. how are they a main sponsor of terrorists? considering they're focusing on military strength they don't need terrorists to spread fear into people.. why is it that people support hatred towards the eastern world? its a country trying to develop.. maybe within the coming years and we see a real threat that force maybe considered; but not right now, why is it that the USA think that they have the right to step in on every single country that they do not see fit to change?
note I'm not trying to argue, just explain a different aspect to the medias complexion!! |

Just because they support terrorists and want a nuclear weapons program (which will probably never happen.. North Korea couldn't even get it right and they are lot more advance technologically).
If they like attack us directly, then do it properly and declare war on Iran. Since we have Iran on two fronts, precision bombs, and a well trained and equipped special forces., then using nuclear weapons would be unnecessary. |

I don't have the time to address such an ignorant question extensively right now. I would never go with this ****, but the current regime in Washington is already pushing it.
I agree with the poster above me. Do you think the USA has the authority to go around toppling democratic governments just because they don't agree with what you think? If so, I pity you. |
