I want to be a 36B in the US Army, am i guaranteed the job?

If i sign the contract at MEPS saying that my job is in the contract will i be able to keep that job?
My friend said it is not 100% guaranteed that they could throw you into a different MOS of their choosing.
I am very strong and very fast 86 ASVAB score, could they throw me into infantry or something else?
Also, i am joining the reserves.

If you sign the contract at MEPS and it says you will get training for that job then you are guaranteed an opportunity to train for it. What that means is that you will go through basic and AIT for it. If you pass AIT you will get qualified for that MOS. If you fail AIT then you failed on your part of the contract and the Army can either kick you out or reassign you to another MOS in according ot the needs of the Army. Also, if the MOS requires a security clearance and you fail the screening then you don't get the job. The Army will not simply say "we need more 11Bs, so you are getting re-classed!" because that would be a breach of contract. Don't listen to your friend, he is probably going off of rumors or a misunderstanding. |

Yes you are guaranteed the job. But it depends on if there are open slots, other wise you will be waiting for a while. |
