I would also suggest that when somebody shoots at you, you will not hesitate to shoot back.

there are 1000s of jobs that the army needs, but always a risk of going into combat, if you think that you might freeze under presure, then would recommend you do not join.

I would encourage you to join the Red Cross, or the Peace Corps.

There is a very definite possibility that if you were in the US Army you may have to kill to defend your life or the life of others.

If this is a problem then the armed forces is not the place for you.

What part of "Armed Forces" are you confused about? No matter your MOS or job specialty, you are first and foremost an infantry soldier. The military is NOT for you.

Peace Corp, Red Cross, Job Corp is more your speed.

I wonder what it is about the Army that makes you want to join. Right down what it is & find something else that has the essense of what you want.

There are tons of support positions that do not require killing people

but army really changes people.
I had this friend who is really into wussy stuff and celebrity, then his dad forced him into the military

Basic combat training is just that: combat training. However, it isnt only focused on killing or anything like that. It is about discipline and getting into good physical shape. You do practice self defense, marksmanship, and other "killing" techniques, but never in a way that would offend anyone. Choose a non combat mos and you wont have anything to worry about! Good luck.
PS just know that in order to sign on and take your oath, you have to sign a paper saying that you are not a conscientious objector to fighting in combat. If you dont feel you can sign that, then dont waste your time. take care

there are many many many many many (did i say many?) jobs in the army where you dont see firsthand combat.

in fact, if you are a female, you may never see firsthand combat.

but if you want to guarantee not shooting then like others, i would recommend the peace corp or the national guard

you should also consider the national guard or the army reserves.

you need to find a different career, the Army has but one job, and it involves killing. it is after all the army, not the red cross.

Look up the definition of Army & Soldier!

YOU are a soldier first and your job second!
Basic Training will teach you basic sodiering skills, one of them is marksmanship -how to shoot a weapon!

I suggest that you look into another profession if you have a problem killing the enemy!

I know exactly how you feel. Im in the same situation right now as we speak.

For me I'm definatly going to take the ROTC through college and experience leadership and other army tasks to see if it's really what i want to do and if it's worth it, because I really don't want to have to kill someone either. If you can, take ROTC i highly recommend doing it, Otherwise talk to a recruiter and see if they can find you a job that has at least has a less of a chance to having to hurt someone, maybe nursing for example.

you should probaly join the navy airforce or coast guard since they are less killing orienteted

Please do not join, especially since you are afraid to kill. You're likely to be sent of to Iraq anyways, and you could end up in a situation where you would have to kill or be killed. Do something else with your life. Don't become another Army pawn.

If you're afraid of killing, I would suggest another profession choice, since the Army's sole roles are to kill people and break stuff.
