I want to join the Corps but need to know some tips for surviving basic training and beyond. Should I expect a lot of confrontation and scuffles from other recruits?

There will always be "scuffles" in boot camp. What do you expect? Everyone is exhausted and stressed out so one or two people will get on your nerves. I actually choke slammed another recruit myself. Just remember that you may not get along with everyone in your platoon but you will have to be able to work together. If you feel the need to settle your differences, take it to the shower room at night. That's where all our "scuffles" occurred. Good luck and Semper Fi. |

pick a career that the military will teach you and that you can go right into when you get out of the military. A technical school would be a good idea. Boot camp will be a breeze if you are a disciplined person. Get ready to be tired a lot. You shouldn't have problems with any recruits. Usually you are a team and you get along good with everyone. |

I'm also joing the USMC soon, it will be the HARDEST thing you've done in your LIFE. But keep a positive attitude and realize that the DI's are doing their job and actually care about you. It's all a mind game.

Get used to being told what to do.
And doing a lot of push-ups because someone else screwed up.
(And getting your azz kicked for screwing up and forcing everyone else to do pushups) |

Keep your head down and do everything the drill instructors tell you and you will be fine do not laigh when another recruit is bein shoted at aswell |
