It all depends upon what you want to do. Do you like the sea? Do you want to fight? What do you want to specialize in - aircraft repair, healthcare, groundpounding?
I suggest researching all the services to see what they offer and then meet with the recruiters. Don't forget that the Coast Guard is a military service as well eventhough they fall under the Department of Homeland Security not Department of Defense. |

It really depends on yourself.
If you like to operate within a big group and act together, then join the Army.
If you like technology (and flying), try the Airforce (though you're not always flying plane there)
If you like sea (and don't mind to work at a middle of an ocean for months), consider to join Navy.
If you like sea but don't want to join Navy and like to work in small group, join the US Coast Guard. They aren't military, but still have access to military equipment and armaments.
And if you want to join for the best, that go first into the battlefield before others, proud being the most disciplined and the hardest one, working in small group, try the Marine.
Well, I hope this can help you. If you want to look for more detailed informations, like how to contact a recruiter, how much you have to pay (for your basic training equipments), how much you'll get paid (no matter what you/they said, this matter is still important), etc.

Personally, I would say Navy. There are several reasons for this, less chance you actually get put in combat, regularly scheduled deployments but they are shorter in length compared to Army and Marines and even Air Force, you get stationed in a lot more interesting places, housing on a lot of the bases is newer, women LOVE a sailor in "cracker jacks", it's just been a really good life for us and I would HIGHLY recommend the Navy to anyone who couldn't decide on which branch to join. |

Which ever you want this is an opinion based question while Air Force would be my choice..It might not be something you would agree with. Which do you like that is the one you should try for. |

Air Force... they have really nice dorms and can ride a bike for their physical training tests once at a military post. |

It all depends on what you want to do. Pick the one that suits your needs. For you PT test it is now push-ups, crunches, and a mile and a half run. So if you don't care that much about the physical go Air Force. The Air Force is also a more relaxed branch. It is almost like a normal job. You don't have to worry too much about being in harms way cause airplanes usually a far away from battle front. Not to sound like a recruiter but that is the info I have for you. But it all comes down to what do you want to do? Work on airplanes then go either Air Force, Navy or Marines. There are tons of jobs in all branches. So find out what you want to do. Once you join and you sign for 4 yrs after that four yrs they can call you back at anytime for up to 4 yrs after you get out. If you stay in 10 or longer, once you get out they can not call you back in at anytime in your life. If that was the case all the older people who wanted to help with the Iraq war would be in. They have age laws so you don't have to worry about being reinstated after you get out if you stay in long enough |

As what several have mentioned before. Depends on what you want to do, enjoy doing, and what you want in life after military.
Air Force-initial training is exceptional however it is difficult to get schools after you have been in for a few years. Living conditions are the best out of all the branches. Life after military for enlisted is so so since the continuing education in your specialty is difficult to get. Officers are more often hired by companies for their management skills.
Army-marketable skills in the outside world is limited to a few specific specialties. Army spends more of its funds on the current war rather than technical or skills training.
Marine Corps-definitely pound for pound the toughest of the branches. Aviation training is exceptional due to the shared training with Naval aviation. Ground forces training for marketable skills is similar to the Army. Bases are usually out of the way, remote, and the standard of living is so so.
Navy-marketable skills are plentiful. Continuing training is good and incentives for getting college degrees is best due to the new advancement requirements (5 vector model). Naval aviation has the best training in technical skills, and continuously send personnel to school.
Good luck in your decision! |

The Navy if you don't want to get killed in Iraq. You will have the opportunity to see with your own eyes what is really going on in the world also. It's alot harder to be accepted into the Navy than anything else though. The technology is the best, and their will be jobs when you are discharged. You could be in the Merchant Marines also. I served 15 years Navy & 5 Coast Guard to get my 20. I have a really good retirement, and I will be 47 in August. I also have a BS/BA in science, and I am studying for my Masters in BIO TECHNOLOGY right now, all because of the Navy. I sub-let for Ely Lilly, and I am a Bail-Bonds Man. |

It really depends on what you want to do. See who will accommodate you the best. Me, personally: I wanted job guarantee, so I chose the Navy. It wasn't a bad life. I had fun. You also have to consider what you would be willing to do: go on ship, or as in my case, work with Marines on a Marine base. |

If you want to travel and be REALLY disciplined - Marines
If you want to travel alot - Navy
If you want a nicer lifestyle and travel a little - Air Force
If you want to just be disciplined - |

I was in both the navy and the army. I liked the army more. It really depends on what you want to do while you are in. Do you want to be on a ship? Go for the navy. Would you prefer a desk job? Go air force. If you enjoy camping, go army or marines. "Best branch" is very subjective. It just depends on what you enjoy doing. I dont think most would argue that the air force is the easiest and the marines the hardest, from least physical to most physical anyhow. |

Marines are the best branch to join. My brothers all were in the service and they all picked different branches and by far i'd have to say the Marines teach you the most. My husband is also a marine you get better compensation as well. |

If I were to choose, I'd choose Air Force. what the others have said about the air force is true. but it is whatever you would like to do. |

HUGE generalizations across the board. Each branch has many different specialties...it just seems that the Air Force flys, the Navy sails, etc. Not necessarily true. They share alot of the same specialties: clerks, police, mechanics, etc. So jobs are hit or miss on the decision.
Housing and barracks: again, generalizations. Each post is different...since you can't pick your post, you might get lucky or screwed in any of the branches.
Laidback vs gungho: I've worked with all branches and I can absolutely guarantee that there is no guarantee about how much/little discipline you will be subject to regardless of branch.
Do you see a pattern here? |

That really depends on the person. If you are willing to put up with the abuse the other services will give you for having a relatively easy life at work, join the Air Force. The Air Force offers the best of all possible worlds, if you want to travel, volunteer, and you will travel, if you want to stay nice and cozy in your stateside base, and basically be a civilian in cammo, keep you head low, volunteer for nothing, and that's what you'll get. I've been in the Air Force for about seven years, I've been all over the world, some places I'd like to return to, others that I'd just as soon never set foot in again. But, through it all, it has been a positive experience for both my self, and my family. One piece of advice though... don't join the AF as security forces. Trust me on this. |
