can i join with the bills in collection? do i have to have them paid off before i join?

I went through this and if you have a reasonable amount in collections, and have decent reasoning for having them, your recruiter "can" work with you. Remember, the USAF checks credit if you are 23 or older OR are married. The steps(with your recruiter),
1: Identify all that is in collection
2: Set up a small payment arrangement for all in which you would have to keep making the agreed payments until basic.
3: Write a letter to M.E.P.S stating why you are in collection for each.
Do this with your recruiter. If you don't have one get one. If one doesn't want to work with you, and they might not, go to another. I had 2 blemishes when they checked my credit: one for $100.00 the other for $500.00.

They all have to be in " payment status "
IE: you have to be making payments on all of them.
If they are in collections status ( your not paying )
Then you cannot enlist in the AF. |

Its like owning a car, with loan payments. They won't care, so long as it doesn't affect your performance within the AF. And so long as you get it payed off too. |
