Can someone just tell me a happy story about being in bct. It's kinda scary to make such a big decision to join the army. Im looking for someone to tell me its not so bad and that their can be good times too.

I met some really great people there, some I even consider great friends, who I am still in contact with even today and i went to basic years ago. It is a big decision to join the Army, but thousands of scared kids have already taken the oath, you will be fine. Everyone is scared at first, but each day gets better. You will have some bad days there, but think about it, it will be the easiest time of your life. No worries about sleeping, eating or exercising, it's all planned out, like your on autopilot for a bit, its freeing, trust me. Good luck. |

there was this total douche in my unit that always pissed everyone off...one day he got his *** beat when the DSs were in some briefing and we were cleaning the bay...that was a happy story. |

It beats being unemployed.
It's like anything else, there's good things and bad things.
As a result of my military service, I was able to travel the world, do things most people only dream of doing, help make the world a better place, and gain a perspective on life and the world you can only get from "been there, done that".
Plus it helped me get a house, get a civilian job, and give me abilities to deal with life in general.
Like anything else, it's what you make of it. |

BCT isn't supposed to give you warm fuzzy memories. That isn't what it is meant to do. But if you keep your head down and drive on you'll do fine.
Save the good times for once you get to your first duty station. |
