I went to a civilian hospital a month before i got out of the navy would i have to pay that?

i went to a civilian hospital a month before i got kicked out of the navy. today i checked my credit report and i have unpaid bills thats not making me look to good. im just wondering since i was still in the navy when i went to the hospital were they sopposed to still cover insurace at outside military hospitals?

Only if it were bonifide legitimate emergency treatment. Otherwise the bill belongs to you and you are the one to pay it.

Only if it was an emergency situation and there was not a military base with either a hospital or clinic within reasonable range. What is called "reasonable" is always up to the military authorities.

depends. did you get a refferal there? tricare only pays if a military dr specifically refered you there or it was an er visit that was a true emergency. if you went on your own to the er (no ambulance) you will have a hard time getting it paid and if you went just because for an appt and you didnt get refered then you have to pay tricare wont

I would think yes, but you never know now and days. It would depend on why you were seen at a civilian hospital to begin with. Was it an emergency? Was there a hospital at a military installation that was within 20 air miles of your location? There may be a couple different reasons why the bills were not paid or it could just be an oversight.

Your best bet would be to ask the hospital to send you an invoice of all the charges and to have them make sure that the date you were treated is on them. I am assuming the Navy uses Tricare for medical just as the Army does. You will then have to take these to a Tricare office and file a claim to have them paid. I would call the Tricare office closest to you before you go to ensure you have all the required paperwork that you would need before making the trip in.

if you did not get approval to go to said civilian hospital yes you are liable for all the bills as Tricare would NOT have covered it without a referral or clear emergency( as in bleeding out).

Yes they are supposed to pay but one must put in the proper paper work.
