I am one person that is not anti-military. As a matter of fact, I believe that any citizen of the USA should have to serve either in the armed services or national guard for a minimum of two years. Our people are forgetting that freedom isn't free and I believe that serving in our military would remind them of this fact. In Switzerland and Israel, required military service is common practice, with exceptions made for those medically unable to participate. It would also go along way towards educating people about guns. Many in our country, views guns of any type as evil, even though they have never picked up a gun in their life. Another bonus of military service is that it would help to instill a sense of discipline, which seems to be sorely lacking in todays youth. It is sad that in a country where freedom is touted as being at the basis of our countries founding, we do so little to ensure that our citizens understand what is required to stay free. Our people have been given a free ride and mark my words because, the day will come when people will regret this lax attitude, and if I were to make a guess it is not far off. |

Not everybody is anti military. My husband and I ride with what is called the Patriot Guard. It is a motorcycle group that is dedicated to seeing that all the military is honored when they come home. Whether they have passed or are just returning home. We ride in support of the military and to escort bodies of fallen soldiers to their final resting place also to honor the families of the same. We want every soldier to know that we are proud of them and the service they provide our country. Whether you support the war or not you CAN support the soldier!
Thank you for the comment but I believe it is the soldiers that rock! There is nothing more humbling than riding behind a hearse carrying a soldier that has given EVERYTHING so you can enjoy the freedoms that we take for granted everyday. |

If you ever find a true answer to this question other than stupidity let me know. |

Pure ignorance, I believe.
For example:
Civil war (which included MILITARY *militia's*)= OUR indepedence.
Military men and women sacrifice everything so that we can keep driving our gas guzzling SUV's, and drink ourselves into oblivion on weekends when we don't have to report for work.
They don't get a break.
It's constantly on the go for US.
That's pretty selfless.
And little_o, you're an idiot.
Where do you get your information that most military people are "racist".
Gah, like I said, IGNORANCE. |

Amazing isn't it. If you think about it. Alot of people are against the police also, rob them and they cannot get to the phone fast enough. Everyone wants their freedom, but have forgotten, how they got it and why they still have it. Maybe, if they lost their freedom, they think about it differently. What do you think they would think of the military then ? |

It's misplaced frustration. A lot (a majority?) of people are anti-war and who's fighting the war? The military.... |

Because they don't have giant robots in the military. Correct that, and you're going to get a ton of new supporters |

I have no idea. Coming from a strong military family I have been brought up to respect and admire anyone who works to protect the nation--I can't stand people who seek to point fingers and be anti-this and anti-that. I want to tell them to get over it--or get out there and do something to help instead of hindering the process. |

I can understand anti-war as well, even though I'm not. I don't think there are as many anti-military people as it would seem. I think there is a very vocal and excruciatingly annoying minority who make multiple profiles and pose as many different people to get there word out. |

I am ex military and very much support our troops. I just hate and I mean hate the people that put them in harms way for the wrong reasons |

I'd say like someone before me, it's misplaced frustations. And I myself support the military and JUST-WAR. Such as WWII, given without, Hitler could've either held or god-forbid, defeated the Soviets, due to the lack of a solid front.
Beside the side, the Gulf War was also just, but the Iraq war was garbled. |

In my experience they are usually only anti US military- if a brutal regime crosses a border to oppress and murder their neighbors- they have no real objection- it is just the men and women that lay their lives on the line to secure freedom across the world that they see as baby killers and such- total ignorance but what do you expect from them? How the 60s flower power generation ever came out of the WWII generatiosn loins is beyond me |

Those that are anti military are also anti gun and anti capital punishment. They are probably also anti prison and anti government. They are like children that believe in Santa Clause and that if you just "love" your neighbor he wont cut your head off. |

They're not. I don't understand where you are getting your information. Everyone is NOT anti military. |

toucan...above poster...
does not sound to bright...
It must be nice to live in a country where you have freedoms afforded by the blood of the military that secure our way of life....and the truth is that you only have yorself to blame about gas prices....if you feel like your paying to much..get a bike or walk...make sacrafices....driving is not a right, nor are cheap oil prices. But to be anti-military because gas is expensive..retarded...also, there are more factors that contribute to gas prices than the price of a barrel of crude....but I will assume that you are ignorant and do not have a grasp of the refinement process.....or the RECORD profits made the past few years by the oil companies....it is not military related.....it is CAPITALISM at its best....you feel you need oil, and therefore will pay a high price for it......duh |

ignorance.
they hate the military because it's the only place that they can't touch with idealism. the military by nature are pragmatic as well as practical. if it doesn't work in real life it's useless. plus we value experience in all men, enlisted and officers. |

Are you sure you are not mistaking anti-war sediment for anti-military? Other could be confusing the two. There is much confusion there.
I've been against the war in Iraq from day one and have been barraged with accusations of not honoring or supporting the troops (I do honor and support them). People seem to have problems separating it.
Another issue could be misplaced blame for the country's failing economy. The expense of the war (military expenses) have depleted our nations money and many important social services and things have been cut. That again is the fault of our leaders not our troops. Again misdirected blame.
This is my best guess. |

Well the problem is the far right equate anti-war to anti- military in order to create this illusion that you are witnessing. |

I'm not anti-military at all. The U.S. must maintain the strongest military in the world in order to protect itself. On the other hand, unless it is a complete and total defensive emergency, it's important that we also use our brains and negotiate for peace before jumping the gun. |

I personally dont know of anyone anti military...but many many anti war....unfortunately the info they get from here is not exactly always the truth...Miltary moral is very important so dont know why anyone would tell them that if you dont back the war you dont back them...but unfortunately George Bush says that in every speech he makes....i was in the first Gulf war and never felt anything but respect until i got home...we flew into Iceland and they had a big welcome...we flew into Bangor, Maine....had a big welcome.....flew to Chicago and no one even acknowledged us...flew home to Kansas City and our First Sgt was standing there with a tiny flag...that was the extent of it.....write to the soldiers....email em....ride with the Patriots to keep that damn waste Fred Phelps away from our fallen troops....volunteer to help the injured vets..who unfortunately because of the large numbers arent getting the care they should be getting......we just have to let them know were here and ready to help...so see there.... not everyone is anti military!!!!! |

I'm anti-war, not anti-military...I haven't met many people who are totally anti-military. Most just want to end wars, and militaries carry out those wars. |

When the military saps taxpayer dollars and is used for individuals to profit and to screw the taxpayer, then people are anti-military.
If gas was cheap because of our intervention in Iraq. I wouldn't give a damn. However, it isn't, and billions are being used on stupid equipment to fight a ragtag army in a podunk country that's managing to put up a formidable fight.
That's ridiculous. |
