Actually, if you have a reputation for being a good Soldier, you probably have at best a 30% chance that you're going to remain in the Army. If you are going to stay in, it's nearly definite that you're going to busted down to E-1.
A OTH discharge via a chapter is likely at this point. Don't lose hope (the Army is desperate for people as everyone knows), but so far it's not looking good is all I can tell you. |

Start hunting for a job back home, and make sure to save enough cash to get you home from the front gate of the base you are on. As when they say goodbye they are not obligated to take you any further then to the front gate. |

Good Luck! |

unless you are on meds then ur done, it will also depends on your chain of command and what they are tring to do. you could go for broke and request a court martial and hope the UPL screwed up somewhere. other than that...... |

Go see your area defense counsel immediately and keep your mouth shut.
The best you can hope for is an admin discharge. E-mail me if you want more info. |

First off, you are a disgrace to our uniform. Your lack of discipline and disrespect to the Army Values speak volumes about your character. I hope you are swiftly chaptered out without any benefits.
And you say "I just recently found out that I tested positive". You knew when you were taking the drugs that you could pop hot. So why were you surprised?
They only advice I can give you is to prepare for your coming demotion and/or pay decrease. If you are lucky, you won't be kicked out. I personally hope that you are. |

hold on there are some foods and spices that can screw up a blood test. did you take any drugs? if you did than you will have to pay the piper, if not did you eat anything with poppyseeds? i see the other answers arent to helpful, especially if you want to stay in the service. be proud to be a soilder for america and freedom. i hope things work out for you. the service is serious business, so stick up for yourself. good luck and God bless |

First, don't panic. There is a 50/50 chance you are going to get away with non-judicial punishment. It may all depend upon what your performance up to now has been. First, this is a command decision. Without knowing what kind of drugs you were positive on and whether your unit is short personnel and what your commanders attitude is, it's impossible to tell you what is going to happen.
What you need to do is stay out of that crap. I use to do discipline paperwork on guys like you all the time. What the heck were you thinking. Operation Golden Flow has ruined more military careers than anything in the military.
Keep your nose clean now and be a good soldier. If worse comes to worse, you may get away with a general discharge. I'm betting that you won't see courts martial unless it was something like LSD or Heroine. |

I assume you served in a combat situation. You became an addict while in the service and as a result of serving in Iraq or Afghanistan or both you became addicted to cover the systems of PTSD, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.
Post Traumatic stress Disorder has a number of symptoms which you are probably suffering from like: depression, startle effect, distorted senses, disassociation, drug and/or alcohol addiction, disorientation, challenges to your confidence or fear, guilt, shame, bouts of isolation response, inability to negotiate life in a normal manner, inability to follow directions, suspicion, ranges of loneliness and sorrow and so on. There are many symptoms to PTSD. It usually takes several of those symptoms to qualify you as suffering from PTSD.
If you can, and if you are free do so, contact non-profit service provider like the Purple Heart ***., The DAV or Disabled American Veterans organization, Vietnam Veterans, and so on. These organizations are found by or near Veterans Administration Hospitals and Clinics. You can also find them on line.
The point is that you need help with this situation and you need doctors diagnoses about the impact of combat on your person, mental, emotional and psychological.
Don't give up, just keep hunting for sources to help yourself. Vietnam Veterans of America can help and will!
Get Help! You also need a Lawyer.
If you happen to be in San Francisco, there is a great organization named Swords to Plowshares, tell them Virgil Clifton sent you. Talk to the legal department. Ask for Larry. You can call them also and ask for The Legal Department. |

Act completely amazed and flabergasted, like you have no idea how that would happen, then get the product Ready Clean (just google it) for when you ask to be retested. |
