What is wrong with you people. Both are nuclear powers, their has not been a war between nuclear powers for a reason. It would mean THE END OF THE WORLD as we know it. Millions of people will die and the Earth may not be capable of sustaining human life at all. So, if the human race was extinct who would you call the winner?

Airpower alone could damage China badly enough to freeze the military, naval bombardments would cost China HEAVY casulties, plus if they popped off nukes...we have a fair chance with systems in place to drop them out of the air, all the while killing them conventionally...constant carpet bombings, constant naval bombardments...they wouldn't have a fight left after a few weeks of this without giving up, or launching nukes at us in desparation.
Think carefully if you think China could beat the US militarily on any soil, rational thinking is real thinking, and this would be the facts. They could inflict severe damage, but in reality it wouldn't be long before a smoking crater would be what was China's military.

Answer 1: The invader will lose. Although both countries can use nuclear weapon, eventually they will meet face to face, either in USA or in China. Then the one who protects its country will win.

Answer 2: Neither. If the two super power starts a war, the entire world will be involved. Pretty soon we human beings will be all eliminated.

Nobody. We might "win" the combat part of it, but we'd be in deep trouble with the rest of the world. As we already are beginning to be.

Whose battleground? This would be the key decision in making out a victor. United States would not be able to achieve control in China's sphere of influence, but a battle there would be very costly to both sides. Outside of Asia, China does not have the ability at this time to cast its forces to spheres around the world, United States does. I am sad to say a no holds bar war would lead to Nuclear Weapons but if it was conventional it favors china. Mostly its a contest of quality over quantity

I hope it never happens because those Chinese are smart and rich and have the latest inventions. We owe them so much money Bush borrows from them constantly. I hope we never have another war. I seen all those caskets of mothers children, wife's ,husbands, children parents and all those troops in the hospital without limbs their body completed destroyed. Oh, God I pray that we never have this happen again, but I'm so afraid Bush will pull another strike.

I am an English ex soldier, and I side completely with the Americans on here who say that America would win an all out war. In any case we Brits would be in there with them and we have nukes as well.

Right now we would, 10 or 15 years from now...that is a seperate question.

We would win now because we are technologically and nuclear superior.

China has the largest Army, Navy and Airforce...They almost have more people just in their armed forces than we have in the United States. Our technical prowess will destroy those numbers though. Saddam insane had the fourth largest army in the world. Old t-72 tanks and even su-27 fighters are worthless against the elite fighting force of the United States. We just better hope our inventory is enough for the amount of targets.
The strategy and air superiority is untouchable at this time..., but remember they stole almost every piece of technical data through their spy network and tomorrows china will be much different than today's...hopefully, their society will become more social and democratic when they learn it is a better system.

Oh yeah they only have like 30 or so missiles that can hit the United States with nukes...How many do we have? Like ten-thousand + and we have the big boys 25 Megaton (destroys 40 mile radius) for strategic destruction not just the tactical 1 kiloton (destroys 1 mile radius) and thats just about it folks! Let's hope it never happens the only significant threat to us at this time is still russia and some of the former soviet republics, they have those 25-30 megaton bombs in large numbers too, and it only takes about three minutes or less to reprogram them to hit targets in the US. That whole thing was a propaganda ploy.

depends where it was fought. I would go for a home win. The sheet logistics of fighting an intense technological war thousands of miles from home would mean the supply lines were streched and vunerable. The "team" with the shortest supply lines has a huge advantage.

If we nuked them first, we still couldn't win, because we don't have the stomach to go in and annihilate every last one of them, which is what would be required (which is why we'll never "win" in Iraq). They would fight to the last man.
If they nuked us first, they have plenty of people to come in and annihilate us to the last man.

The Chinese People's Army would win hands down. Sheer weight of numbers. They could put two million men in the field every day for a week and still have plenty more in reserve.

This happened in Korea in the 1950s. The final score, not a stalemate = China Won we Lost.

If America starts the war, China would lose because America has enough firepower to destroy the world mulitiple times.
If China starts the war, they would still lose because after America is destroyed, the Allies would turn on China and reduce them to nothing, along with their allies.
Even though China has billions of people, they would not win, even in a land invasion, just because of the nuclear weapons we have developed.

Actually, China's nukes are alot bigger than American ones. They're original problem was that they could not make them small enough to reach America. If China and and America went to war, China could send 300 million people over and walk through. Plus due to previous conscriptions more of the population are trained killers. Plus they could produce the weaponry needed alot quicker, with thousands of manufacting plants, they use 75 percent of all metal in the world now and are going through a boom, while America's midwest prodution areas are all closing or closed. Hands down ass kicking.
